Fox Fall Schedule 'Steals' Weakest Link, Cuts Back On Scripted — Several Shows Are Still On Bubble

Fox on Monday became the third broadcast network (following CBS and NBC) to unveil its schedule for the Fall TV season. What shows are on the move, where did new ones land, and what's on hold until midseason?

♦ Whereas last fall Fox fielded three nights of scripted fare, this time around you only have Sunday's usual cartoon slate and Tuesday's live-action twosome of Murder in a Small Town and Doc.

♦ Plot twist! Weakest Link has quietly jumped from NBC to Fox, for an all-celebrity season that will air on Mondays this fall. (Similarly, Fear Factor, the early-aughts NBC competition series that was briefly revived by MTV in 2017, is returning on Fox at midseason for a "reimagined," "bigger, bolder and more daring" edition dubbed... Fear Factor: The Next Chapter.)

♦ In addition to the Josh Charles-led one-hour comedy Best Medicine (which will debut at midseason and be paired with Doc), Fox has also ordered for midseason Memory of a Killer, a dramatic thriller inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer and following a yet-to-be-cast hitman who develops early-onset Alzheimer's.

♦ Renew/cancel decisions have yet to be made for The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit (seeing as both are still airing their latest seasons), while Accused, an anthology with a non-contract cast, is not subject to the same decision timetable as ongoing series.
