Will Fire Country‘s Bode Be a Free Man in Season 2? EP, Max Thieriot Weigh In
“This is what hope feels like,” Fire Country‘s Gabriela very recently told Bode, as they dreamed aloud about one day sharing dinners at home, him a free man, and them both eventually wearing nothing.
But is that a false hope? Is there a version of Fire Country — even as early as Season 2 — where Bode doesn’t bungle something during his last weeks and indeed gets paroled? And he then leaves Three Rock behind?
Or is that not Fire Country, which was sold to us as a drama about a convict sent to a prison fire camp located in the hometown he long ago left in his rear view mirror?
“The sky’s the limit,” showrunner Tia Napolitano told TVLine, when we asked if the series might one day revolve around a paroled Bode Leone. “Nothing is set in stone, so you’re just going to have to tune in and find out.”
Max Thieriot, who plays Bode and is also an executive producer on the series that he co-created, also hinted at a world of possibilities for his do-right inmate.
“As you’ve seen, we’re telling the stories of these characters and watching the evolution of them, so we’re not going to be doing the same thing every week for however any years we’re hopefully doing this,” he told TVLine. “We want to see the progression, the evolution, the ups and downs, so no matter what the final decision is [about Bode’s future], our hope is that it doesn’t feel repetitive.”
One possible scenario, planted in the April 7 episode, is that the knapsack full of stolen cash that train hopper Robin (played by country superstar Kane Brown) handed off to Bode is a time bomb of sorts. Bode confided its existence with BFF inmate Freddy, who then took it to hide somewhere. Maybe the existence of said cash stash is discovered by someone, and Bode — rather than see Freddy take the fall and further delay his chance to reunite with girlfriend Cookie and their newborn child — throws himself on the proverbial grenade?
As previously reported, Napolitano did tease that “by the end of the season, we turn everything on its head. It’s full circle from the pilot, and I think it will feel very satisfying but also incredibly unexpected.”
Specifically previewing the already-renewed Fire Country‘s freshman finale, airing May 19, Napolitano said it revolves around “an event like you’ve never seen before on this show, and the culmination of all this character drama we’ve been building” includes “a new escalation in Bode’s journey…. It’s an incredibly satisfying way to end a roller coaster of a season.”
What say you, Fire Country faithful? Will Bode make parole and be free to woo Gabriela? Or is a heartbreaking, con-blocking twist around the corner?
It would be difficult to create a situation that both keeps him in prison but still leaves him eligible for the relative freedom of fire camp. I could see him getting out on parole (which means he’s still at risk of going back in), but helping run the fire camp (so he’s still involved with other inmates).
I’d like to see Bode paroled but stay on
and expand his role as leader like his mom and dad.
Great idea but first they have to figure out who switch the urine samples.
Beautiful finale! Tragic and angered by a bullying prosecutor and Sleeper trying to ruin someone that is really trying to get his life on track and rocking at it…Bode is loyal to a fault and always puts others above himself. He is selfless and loyal. So I wasn’t surprised that he through himself under the bus, but what I’m hoping is that the ones that know the truth, Freddy, Gabriella and the other inmates that helped frame him for sleeper, will get the rest of his family and friends to believe in his innocence and the reason that he did what he did at his parole hearing! He has believed in everyone else wrongly accused (Manny, Jake, other inmates)and deserves the same in return! I am really hoping that they all step up for him and get his sentence overturned! Someone please get him a kick but lawyer that will fight for Justice and put sleeper away for a very long time and get Bode released like he should’ve been!!! Bode is strong and he will get through this but please don’t let his family and friends turn on him when he needs them ALL the most
This whole bag of money plot line is beyond stupid. I really liked Fire Country at first but the writing for me just kinda keeps going down hill.
It’s so predictable. I only watch because I love Billy Burke, Diane Farr, and Kevin Alejandro.

I feel like even if Bode got out, he’d stay around as Manny’s second in command or something. That way he still gets to be at Three Rock, but he can go home at the end of the day and interact with the other characters outside of just the fires.
If Manny leaves to take the other job, that would leave Bode to run the camp.
Best Case Scenario.
The way it should go.
They discover Bode’s test was tampered with. So Bode gets Paroled. Bode and Gabriela get to be together and get their own place. Bode chooses to stay and work at 3 Rock and is 2nd in Command to Manny. Bode also works to get Freddy paroled sooner.
Having Patrolled. Bode can give his kidney to his mom Sharon.
Having Kane Brown and ‘Kyle’ on the show were both dumb ideas. Sleeper never returns to the show.
No he needs to stay thr hell away from his cousine Gabby.. Yes Vince has two brothers Manny Gabby dad, his Bodes Cspo,uncle and Vince ‘s other brother is luke.Shaton won’t accept bodes kidney if should then she would know like Vince does their son his clean by the tests they run before the surgery, yes Bode should have told the truth, then help freddy get psroled.
Truly horrible written finale to season one with Bode Leone admitting guilt when he is obviously Innocent. No Honor in hurting the ones who love you like that, your family, Gabriela, Manny and friends. It’s very much and extremely cowardly act by Bode.
Bode isn’t even a good friend to Freddy by doing that.
Because they wrote the finale this way. I am done with this show entirely and will not watch another episode or any future seasons.
That episode completely ruined it for me.

The writing on this show is fanfic shipper fantasy and I find Brodie’s martyrdom complex incredibly irritating. And the emergencies have been ridiculous like last week’s prom bus stuck on a train track. The staging is often amateurish like Manny being seconds away from blowing up as he struggles to hook the helicopter lift to the jet fuel as fire roars close. He succeeds then casually hops off the OTHER SIDE of the train car which is completely clear of danger; the camera pulls back and you see the fire is still like 20 feet away. Talk about letting the air out of the balloon.
Lol I was laughing how the two of them couldn’t get the hook on but after he throws him out of the train he fights with it a bit then realizes he can push the barrels closer. It has gone a little down hill. I only watch for the homie bravo 6
Not sure what they will do. What they should do is have Eve and Jake both be arrested at the end of the season and become inmates at 3 rock. Eve for drunk driving, Jake for the money (covering for Bode.) Bode becomes free, gets hired by cal fire, working for Manny at 3 rock (on parole.) This allows him and Gabby to date, puts the crew together more, and furthers the bond between Manny and Bode. Also, they should time jump about 7-9 months or more so that Bode can recover from giving his kidney. This gives Jake and Eve time in prison after taking plea deals. Jake stones for his role in Bode’s sisters death, Eve gets to work 3 rock from the inside, and the show gets a new fresh angle.
You should definitely write for the show.
Jeff all of those suggestions are probably on the list of the absolute worst ideas for this show. Any one of those ideas would ruin the show, fast. HAHA!! Thank goodness you aren’t a writer, director or producer.
I think they should bring back Kane Brown’s character to further elaborate on how he got the money and why. I want Bode to be paroled and work for Manny. I want Bode and Gabriella to have a steady relationship. I love this show.
I hope bode is paroled next season shows him recruiting and assisting Manny at 3 rock. He decides to work at 3 rock not cal fire

Bode gets his parole and stays at 3 Rock working for Cal Fire & DOC; the $ gets to Manney who stashes it and it becomes a thread all next season.

I am not sure that I will continue to watch Fire Country. It seems like it is the same story each week. I expected a much more dramatic show. I am starting to really cut out a lot of shows I faithfully watched each week.
I’d like to see Manny move up the ladder and turn 3rd Rock over to Bode to run. That way we could still have 3rd Rock, Bode would be with Gabby, he could work with Vince and Sharon and we wouldn’t lose the heart of the show.
I like to see Bode be free but still be leader or work with his father. So they can build a relationship back up as a father and son. And that his mom well get her life saving transplant that she needs.
I would like to see both Bide and Freddy get paroled. Freddy so he can be with his family and Bode so him and Gabriela can start a relationship. I would like to see Manny maybe retire from Three Rock and go on to another department with the fire department and have Bode take over Three Rock after his parole. That would be an awesome storyline. I would also like Sharon to get a kidney.
I can see Manny take the new private fire gig and leaving Bode to run the camp.
I love this show. Can’t wait for Friday night. I am going to be so disappointed if Bode doesn’t parole. I think Gabs is going to cheat on him with Kyle. She REALLY needs to grow up and quit whining. I would miss the heck out of Freddy but he needs to get out of prison. Maybe go to Cal Fire. Sleeper needs to go but not at the expense of Bode’s parole.

I would like to see Bode parole, but be ordered to stay at fire camp to assist the inmates. This could hopefully result in him & Eve getting others who get parole into Calfire.
Bode should not be in prison. I can’t believe this is how its going to end. And how quickly people are turning on him!

Hated the fire country finale. Bodie back in prison. I will not be watching season 2. Very disappointed
Wash, rinse, repeat. WTH !! There once was a series Lois & Superman. Every other week Lois learned that Clark was Superman. Then she’d get clocked on the head and the whole thing repeated over again. Now Bode is back in prison and we are back at the beginning. I mean, Really? I know. If I don’t like it don’t watch it. That’s my choice. I know, you say good riddance 🤪
This show has lots of potential, and I like the vast, but the current writers aren’t making it. So many “not in your wildest dreams would that happen” The finale was so unrealistic it made me question if I’ll keep watching.
This show is not good at all. Body is a irritating and terrible actor in this show he show have stayed on Seal Team 6, it was a better character for him to act.
