Chris Wallace Announces Fox News Exit, Will Join CNN+ in 2022
News anchor Chris Wallace has announced his exit from Fox News, with Sunday’s edition of the political news show Fox News Sunday being his last.
“After 18 years, I have decided to leave Fox,” Wallace said toward the end of the broadcast. “I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in. I’m ready for a new adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out.
“Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked, and they kept that promise,” he continued. “I have been free to report to the best of my ability, to cover those stories I think are important to hold our country’s leaders to account. It’s been a great ride.”
*Update*: CNN announced Sunday that Wallace will join CNN+, the network’s streaming subscription service that is set to debut in the first quarter of 2022. “After decades in broadcast and cable news, I am excited to explore the world of streaming,” Wallace said in a statement. “I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing major figures across the news landscape — and finding new ways to tell stories. As I embark on this adventure, I am honored and delighted to join Jeff Zucker and his great team. I can’t wait to get started.”
“It is not often that a news organization gets the opportunity to bring someone of Chris Wallace’s caliber on board,” said CNN Worldwide president and chairman of WarnerMedia News and Sports, Jeff Zucker in an accompanying statement. “He is as fine a journalist as there is in our business. This speaks volumes about our commitment to journalism and CNN+, and we are thrilled to have Chris on the ground floor of helping us build the next generation of CNN and news.”

Trump kept interrupting, calling names, and acting like a child. Wallace was the moderator and his job as such was to try to maintain order and decorum. Trump would have nothing of that and as a result turned the debate into a dumpster fire. The most dangerous President in our 240+ year history will be forever vilified by the rational and those with common sense. Wallace however will be celebrated as an unbiased, thoughtful, and competent journalist with a clear record of integrity. Can’t say that about Trump.

Keystone had nothing to do with American jobs. It was transporting Canadian oil. The State Department concluded that the number of full-time, permanent jobs from Keystone would hover around 35 after construction.

That doesn’t mean what he’s saying is wrong. Fox News(as well as MSNBC) have very few people left who are considered actual journalist most of the personalities on either network are commentators now, which is not the same thing.
Not true. MSNBC still practices actual journalism, and despite having a strong left slant, they still avoid false reporting and any conjecture that’s wild enough to be considered slanderous. Whereas FN’s opinion block actually uses its very literal non-journalism as a shield against lawsuits, to say whatever disruptive and insane things cross their minds.
That’s why they are about to settle out of court with the kid and the Indian in DC. They are named in a lawsuit in the Rittenhouse case. I predicted his firing after that bleep show of a debate with Trump and Biden. It was a total embarrassment for the network. I predict Bret Baier will take over Fox News Sunday. He’s probably the most respected person at Fox News. He’s definitely earned the position.

No news organization is perfect, but most people dislike Fox because of its support of the big lie, the bigotry, racism, Evangelicalism, and misogyny. Not to mention the litany of pro-Trump supporters who have endorsed conspiracy theories and outright treason against our country. But CNN will be a good place for Wallace.
CNN has plenty of problems too, but at least they are more middle-of-the-line than other news organizations. I am excited to see where Wallace goes once he is there. I wish him well.

Nicely said. Real neutral news organizations are Reuters, BBC, etc., but they don’t have mass media exposure that Wallace is used to. CNN is as centrist as you can get while still playing to a huge audience. I agree it’s a very good fit for him.
