Cartoon Network Website Shut Down, Redirects Users To Sign Up For Max

R.I.P., CartoonNetwork.com. As of Aug. 8, the channel's former content hub no longer exists, instead redirecting animation enthusiasts to Max.com, where they can sign up for a subscription to stream their favorite new and classic cartoons.

So, what led Warner Bros. Discovery to pull the plug? "We are focusing on the Cartoon Network shows and social media where we find consumers are the most engaged and there is a meaningful potential for growth," a rep for the network said in a statement. "While we have closed some digital products, fans can continue to interact with Cartoon Network via the Cartoon Network app as well as select TV providers apps on platforms including mobile and connected devices like Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon and via social platforms YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook."

Warner Bros. Discovery's decision to shutter the Cartoon Network homepage comes just two months after Paramount similarly took down ComedyCentral.com, a move that outraged longtime consumers of the brand. The two actions aren't entirely comparable, however, as Comedy Central's website housed decades of content that was unavailable anywhere else — including popular clips from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report — whereas Cartoon Network's roster of original series are still largely available to stream on Max and on the app.

Still, that isn't stopping fans from mourning the loss of the site on social media. "My entire childhood is gone," one person wrote on X, while another added, "This just broke my heart. An iconic era is really over."
