Abbi and Ilana’s wild NYC adventures are coming to an end: Broad City‘s upcoming fifth season will be its last, Comedy Central announced on Thursday.
Broad City stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer — who also co-created the series — as two perpetually stoned best friends hustling their way through their 20s in New York City. The half-hour comedy debuted on Comedy Central back in 2014, after beginning life as a web series, winning acclaim along with a loyal audience. Season 5, first announced in 2016, will air early next year.
Jacobson and Glazer’s relationship with Comedy Central will continue beyond Broad City, though: The two have signed a comprehensive first-look development deal with the network, and already have three new series in development.
“Broad City has been our baby and first love for almost ten years, since we started as a web series,” Jacobson and Glazer said in a statement. “It’s been a phenomenal experience, and we’ve put ourselves into it completely. Broad City‘s always had a spontaneous pace and feeling, and ending after Season 5 honors that spirit. We are very excited to bring new voices and points of view to Comedy Central and continue our collaboration together in new ways.”

This is really sad. They’re ending on a high, but I could have watched them forever because they are so talented and so much fun.
I’m sad to see it go but glad there’s enough of it to always rewatch and enjoy. I’m glad it’s ending on a creative decision and will free up their talents to do more great things.

So weird considering this is one of those shows that could go on forever (there’s a reason it’s called “Broad City”). Well, they have been really consistent through all 4 seasons.

Why not just leave it open ended and do it whenever they have time. I’m so sad about this. This has been the best show on Comedy Central since it debuted. It’s the best comedy on any platform period.
I really thought this show was genius for the first three seasons, but just couldn’t vibe with Season 4. For me anyway, it seemed to lose something in it’s fourth season. Will 100% watch Season 5, but I’m kinda glad they’ve recognised that all good things must end.
I love this show so much, and this is really sad news. I respect their decision to end the show on a high. Perhaps that’s best, they know they right decision. 50 episodes – just enough to watch again and again.

Broad city is an amazing show I love it when I first heard of that I binged watched it all the way so I can watch season four. This could probably go on for eight seasons.
