This Friday on Blue Bloods (CBS, 10/9c), violent crime hits as close to home as possible when one of the Reagans is targeted by a sharpshooter’s bullet.

“There’s an assassination attempt on Frank,” previews Will Estes, who plays the youngest Reagan son, NYPD police officer Jamie. “Our own father got shot at, so it’s big stakes.”

Especially since Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) is no less than the police commissioner.

Estes says the February sweeps “event” episode “was nice for us to play, because sometimes we’re off in own worlds, and this obviously brings [the multi-generational Reagan family] together really quick, at the hospital.”

With Jamie and big bro Danny (played by Donnie Wahlberg) canvassing the streets and working leads to suss out the shooter, “It was a great show for me, and I think everybody else too,” Estes says. “I know Donnie had a lot of fun.”

You can be assured that the Reagan clan — ADA Erin, included — will pull out all the stops to hunt down and exact justice on those who wanted Dad dead. “Everybody wants a piece of these guys, bad,” says Estes.

As for what else CBS’ well-received cop drama has in store for its freshman run, Estes says that towards the end of the season, “We’re going to see some pretty major resolution of the Blue Templar storyline, so I’m looking forward to that. It should be exciting!”
