Batwoman First Look: Camrus Johnson Suits Up as Batwing in Season 2 Finale
Another superhero is taking flight on Batwoman!
Having just cheated death (or, more accurately, had it cheated for him), Luke Fox (played by Camrus Johnson) is on track to suit up as Batwing— and TVLine has a first look.
Batwing will step up as Batwoman’s (Javicia Leslie) “crime-fighting counterpart” as they work to clean up a]mess in the CW series’ Season 2 finale (airing Sunday, June 27). But before Luke can fully embrace the awesome and powerful nature of his supersuit, “he must first overcome his own personal demons,” says the official description.
The Batwing suit was conceptualized by Batwoman costume designer Maya Mani — who also worked on Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — with assistance from Diana Patterson and illustrator Andy Poon.
“Honestly, it’s hard to explain how much it means to me to wear the Batwing suit and officially play my first superhero,” Johnson said in a statement. “The main reason I wanted to be in Batwoman was for this opportunity — to give kids like me another Black hero to look up to and relate to. It’s hard not to smile when I catch myself in the mirror with the bat symbol on my chest, and I’ll keep smiling through every fight scene, every awesome stunt, and every Gotham night where Batwing is finally in the field!”

This week’s episode, airing Sunday at 9/8c, will see a familiar foe make their way to Gotham, forcing Batwoman and Mary (Nicole Kang) to rely on each other more than ever. Meanwhile, Alice (Rachel Skarsten) finds a new mission and an unexpected ally. The hour will also see Arrow‘s David Ramsey reprise his role as John Diggle and give Luke some much-needed advice.

Costume really brings Nightwing to mind, even without the name. Which isn’t a bad thing.
I came to see if anyone saw the similarity and was not disapointed.
I thought the same thing at first. It’s the blue bat on the chest. I had to google to see if they were actually the same heroes in the comics. I never new Luke became a super hero.
Looks good. I think the helmet is the weakest part but overall it is great adaptation.

There’s been some costume reveals that I haven’t really liked (e.g. Bart Allen/Kid Flash…yes, I know it’s comic accurate but, some costumes just don’t translate as well as others to live action) but, this one I can definitely get behind.
So excited! But how can he breathe in that helmet?? Also, I’m curious who made the suit in the show; was it Cisco before he left Central city? Maybe Winn from the future?
The part on his helmet which covers his nose/mouth sticks out a bit which gives him enough breathing room.

This costume is sweet! So excited. I feel like this season of Batwoman has been a vast improvement over last, I’ve been looking forward to and enjoying every episode so far. Reminds me of the early Arrowverse days.

FINALLY
Happy for Camrus, but honestly Luke never came across as much of a fighter. The suit can protect him, but his fighting skills have yet to be seen on this show.
I think we’re probably going to see that side of the character develop over the rest of the season as he deals with his shooting, leading up to him deciding to do this.
There is a hint of it in the Crisis on Infinite Earths cross-over event when we see him with Kevin Conroy’s Batman. Originally, Batwing was supposed to show up in season 2 but with Ruby Rose leaving the series they needed to shift the focus to establishing Ryan Wilder and putting Kate Kane to rest. I’m so glad Camrus is finally getting to put the costume on!
So like… I guess Ryan is going to have to become Batgirl? Nice, I mean it makes sense, I thought that or Batwing, but that seems decided already haha. Can’t wait to see Kate/Batwoman and Luke/Batwing fighting together with Ryan as their Batgirl…. Batfamily y’all.
I wish… unfortunately, I doubt we get Kate back in the batsuit. Wallis has had little to do for the most part. I am looking forward to the Kane, Kate episode as well as Luke’s Batwing debut. They did give us Stephanie Brown, one Batgirl from the comics and she and Luke had sparks… watch out Mary.
I also hope we get more WolfSpider… and, more importantly, more Kate Kane…

This reminds me too much of Guardian on Supergirl.
There were too many episodes where they were focused on a male hero (Guardian) when they should have been focused on Supergirl.
I wish they had turned Mary or Sophie into Batgirl instead.
I still wish they had made Sophie Batwoman instead of introducing Ryan.
I like the suit! It has a Batman Beyond vibe.
