Astrid & Lilly Save the World Not Returning for Season 2 at Syfy
So… maybe they don’t?
Astrid & Lilly Save the World, the sci-fi comedy that premiered almost a year ago, has been cancelled at Syfy and will not be returning for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
The coming-of-age comedy carried a message that “we don’t have to look or act a certain way to be a hero” as it paid homage to iconic female-driven stories and characters in entertainment such as Buffy and Booksmart.
“High school is hard enough when you’re different,” read the series’ logline, “but when outcast BFFs Astrid (played by Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’s Jana Morrison) and Lilly (newcomer Samantha Aucoin) accidentally crack open a portal to a terrifyingly quirky monster dimension, it gets a lot more complicated. It’s up to them to vanquish the creepy creatures and save the world, becoming the badass heroes they were meant to be. That is, if they can survive the horrors of high school.”
Leading out of the Syfy hit Resident Alien last winter, Astrid & Lilly retained but a fraction of its audience, with its March finale barely drawing 200,000 total viewers.

It was my favorite show last year! It was the only show I looked forward too! I wish it had been given the chance with a 2nd season! But I hope to see Jana and Samantha in other projects!

I watched the first few episodes but the rest are on my dvr. Can anyone tell me if the season ended on a cliffhanger?

I really enjoyed this show. Syfy used to be our fave channel but viewing material has been slim.

So disappointed! This show was so much fun. I rarely watch shows when they come on live but this one I did along with resident alien. I really wish networks would poll fans bc I see good shows canceled left and right and dumb ones going on forever.
Well…another show I like bites the dust. That is SO disappointing! This was a very cool fun show. Why not give it one more season and see what happens? Sometimes it takes longer for a show to catch on with viewers. Look at Friends! It was almost canceled after the first season too! So was Seinfeld! I think it’s a mistake to kill off a show after a single season. At least SurrealEstate is returning and I LOVE Resident Alien. Maybe there’s hope that these will continue on for a few years! Fingers crossed!
Man, I loved show. It was hilarious and poignant all at the same time. And it was surprising! The acting was great too. Sorry that it got canceled.
