No amount of baby taters and milkshakes will make this news go down easier: The current season of Disney Channel’s groundbreaking family drama Andi Mack will be its last, TVLine has learned. The remaining episodes will air Fridays at 8/7c beginning June 21, with the series finale scheduled to air on July 26.
Andi Mack, which premiered in April 2017, stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee as a girl whose world is rocked when she finds out that her older sister Bex (played by Lilan Bowden) is actually her mother. It also stars Joshua Rush and Sofia Wylie as Andi’s friends Cyrus and Buffy, Asher Angel as her love interest Jonah, Trent Garrett as her biological father Bowie, and Lauren Tom as her mother — sorry, grandmother — Celia. The show made history for multiple reasons throughout its three-season run, most notably for featuring Disney Channel’s first coming out story.
“Andi Mack was a labor of love for a room of impassioned, inventive writers, a talented and dedicated crew, and an extraordinary, miraculous cast who inspired us all,” reads a statement from series creator/executive producer Terri Minsky. “We had the honor of breaking a lot of new ground for Disney Channel. We were its first serialized show, its first series centered around an Asian American family, and its first to feature an LGBTQ character who spoke the words ‘I’m gay.’ But the best part of making Andi Mack was our audience, who let us know we mattered to them. The series finale is for them.”
Adds Disney Channel President Gary Marsh, “Three years ago, we challenged Terri Minsky to create a new series that expanded and broadened the Disney Channel brand. And so was born Andi Mack. We are forever grateful to Terri, her talented team and the outstanding cast, led by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, for delivering a meaningful and satisfying conclusion to three wonderful seasons of this brilliant series.”

I think the grandfather being arrested for soliciting a minor was what killed the show.
I agree with you that could be a reason why but i think the other reason is because they lost a major character in the show the one who plays Andi’s best friend cause she got cast as a main character in the High School Musical series for Disney+ so that could be the other reason why the show is ending
I still don’t know if the lead character is a girl or a boy.
If you’re trying to be funny, this isn’t funny. If you’re being serious, then stop. Please. She’s a child. A child.
… Really? Way to be a d!ckhead and make this comment about a 14 year old CHILD. A$$hole.
Well, then you clearly don’t watch so why do you care. But very few guys spell their first name “Andi” (for the character) or have the first name “Peyton” (for the actress).
I’ll be sad to see it go. I’ve had so much fun watching the Tyrus and Jyrus fandoms on Tumblr. This show was a big step for the network and it deserves to hold a place in history. I think we can expect great things from the cast as they pursue other projects.
Andi Mack should not end. It’s a very good show for my grandchildren.
the asain part ref is wrong. the first was All-American Girl in 1994
Which was ABC, not Disney Channel, and so wasn’t Disney Channel’s first anything.
The grandfather, who was a prominent character in the series was arrested last Christmas for using Grindr to pick up a 13-year old boy. Disney and the rest of the corporate news and entertainment media then proceeded like nothing happened.
His arrest and firing was widely reported internationally. That’s hardly “nothing happened”.
This isn’t really a surprise. Very few Disney channel shows last beyond three seasons. I think Will Friedle and Rider Strong were talking about why Girl Meets World ended after three seasons and they mentioned something about how Disney shows don’t go beyond three seasons, for the exception of Kim Possible and Hannah Montana, because Miley Cyrus was the biggest thing in the world at the time.
That does seem to be the trend. Even going all the way back to Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens. I’ve always wondered why that was. 🤔
Allegedly it’s because after three seasons, their contracts expire and they can ask for salary raises.
Well there’s a shocker, a Disney show ending after three seasons. Who’d’ve ever seen *that* coming?
Star vs. The Forces of Evil is in its 4th and final season. So that show is another one that lasted more than three seasons.
Liv and Maddie ran for four as well. 3 does seem to be the trend lately but 4 used to be the standard. Pretty sure both Suite Life incarnations were 4 as well. Jessie was. Used to be a time when you could expect 4.
Both the Suite Life shows had 3 seasons each actually.
I am a 31 year old who loves to watch Andi Mack!! Every end to each episode keeps me more and more interested. I can’t believe it’s ending!!! They can’t just end after 3 seasons. Please don’t end Andi Mack!!!
