Was a kiss just a kiss for The Resident‘s Conrad? Will #OneChicago siblings get a crossover? Is Big Sky a bit smaller this season? Read on for answers to those questions plus scoop on many other shows. (You can and should email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
Any scoop on Conrad and Billie for the Jan. 3 episode of The Resident? –Patrick
Conrad and Billie’s doorstep kiss will indeed factor heavily into the Fox drama’s winter premiere (airing Jan. 3), which we’ve already screened. If you’re a fan of mature conflict resolution among TV characters, you’ll be pleased with how the fallout is handled… and there’s a Conrad/Billie moment we suspect ‘shippers will turn into a GIF.
Anything new or fun upcoming for Chicago Fire’s Violet after her initial grief has worn off? –Emily
“It’s not that she’s going to put the grief behind her altogether,” says co-showrunner Andrea Newman, “but I think she definitely is moving into a lighter space and able to have a little more fun while also not forgetting Evan. He’s still a part of her life.”
Desperately missing Enver Gjokaj in his NCIS: Hawai’i whites. Any chance we will see Captain Joe this season? –Dee
As a matter of fact, when I spoke to Vanessa Lachey on Dec. 14, she said, “I was just texting [Enver]… and I will say that he is ‘pinned for the future.’ We don’t have specifics, but yes, he is coming back to the island” for the first time since Season 1’s finale.
Should we be worried about Luke Kleintank’s future on FBI: International? He’s barely been In recent episodes and this franchise’s history with series regulars is pretty sketchy. –Beth
As showrunner Derek Haas explained in this GMMR interview, Kleintank is simply on paternity leave, so the writers decided to blow up Forrester’s world a bit. You will get some clarity about the character’s future with the team in the episode “Someone She Knew,” which is currently scheduled to air Tuesday, Jan. 24. (The FBIs resume their seasons this Tuesday, Jan. 3.)
Any update you can offer on Sam Esmail’s Battlestar Galactica reboot at Peacock, which was announced almost 3.5 years ago? –Fatih
I hear that it is still in development, but there are no new details to share at this time.
I saw a lot of tweets about wrapping filming for Big Sky in early December, but an Instagram post from Dedee Pfeiffer seems to say it was just a “holiday break.” How many episodes should we expect for Season 3? –Gonzo
Big Sky: Deadly Trails will span a total of 13 episodes, which means there are just three more coming, starting this Wednesday, Jan. 4.
I’m counting the days until Criminal Minds: Evolution returns [on Jan. 12, with Episode 6]! Have anything to tide me over? –Kelly
Previously on TVLine… Zach Gilford, who plays UnSub Elias, told us that Episode 9 is “really fun” — and here is why. “You can tell you’re getting to the end [of the season] because everything’s starting to kind of potentially unravel” in that penultimate episode, he said. “People start making decisions they wouldn’t normally make, that I think will surprise the audience but also surprise these characters.”
Will we ever get some brother and sister-in-law moments between Chicago Med‘s Will and Chicago P.D.‘s Hailey now that Jay is gone? –Silvia
“We haven’t put that in yet, but it’s always possible,” Med co-showrunner Andrew Schneider said when we relayed your Q. “We’d love to have these crossover moments.”
Any early scoop on Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3? –Damien
Given that Kimberly abruptly broke up with Jackson (played by Mitchell Slaggert) when she started to suspect that there might be something more between her and Canaan, we had to ask showrunner Justin Noble if the “climate refugee”/transfer will still be a part of Season 3. “He definitely could be,” Noble said, before adding, “Unlike the rest of our cast, Jackson is not rooted in Essex… I think, eventually, he’ll go back to University of Kansas.”
Is there anything you could tease about what’s coming up for The Winchesters‘ Carlos or Lata in the back half of the season? They’ve been such great additions to this universe. –CeCe
Showrunner Robbie Thompson tells TVLine, “You’re going to see some potential romance for both of them, and also see them really challenge themselves — particularly Carlos in Episode 8 (airing Jan. 24). We’re really going to dig into his backstory as a musician, and Jojo [Fleites] did an incredible job in that. We’re also going to see Lata expand her abilities within the core four, and what she brings to the table as a hunter, as well, particularly in Episode 10.” Thompson also said that in Episode 8, “Carlos and Lata go on a bit of an adventure together, and we’re going to see them working a case on their own.”
I really liked Ada’s son, Tony, and his little flirtation with Latika on The Winchesters. Any chances he’ll be coming back? –Ivan
I got your inquiry in front of showrunner Robbie Thompson, who responded, “We love Tony, too! Would love to see more of him as well, and I can at least tease that we will see where that flirtation went in Episode 10,” airing sometime in February. (The Winchesters resumes its freshman run Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 9/8c.)
Does Peacock plan to stream Season 3 of Departure, which has already aired internationally? –Maddy
I keep checking on this, as a Departure/Archie Panjabi fan myself, but there is no news yet on Season 3 seeing the light of day Stateside.
