CIA CBS Spinoff Casting Spoilers

Is there any word on whether any actors from the cancelled FBI spinoffs will transfer over to the new CIA show to join the amazing Tom Ellis? I'm really hoping Shantel VanSanten brings Nina back in a regular role. –Martin
Not only is there no word on whether any Most Wanted or International alumni will pop up on CBS' CIA, we still don't know of any series regulars aside from Ellis! What's afoot? Sources tell me the "FBI Universe Expansion" has been in a bit of a holding pattern — that once TV's erstwhile Lucifer landed a lead role (as the CIA agent), other casting (including for his FBI partner) was paused as scripts underwent further polishing. Whether any of the actors that producers liked the first go-round wind up getting a fresh look-see remains TBD. UPDATE: CIA has now been pushed from fall to midseason, with a new showrunner.

Has there been any news on the animated Married... With Children show that was being developed? –Thatcher
Sources confirm for me that the animated Married... With Children series — which had Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Faustino set to voice their characters — is no longer in development, though the IP remains very important to Sony Pictures Television (as evidenced by the fact the the Bundys' bawdy antics are currently available to revisit on Hulu, Pluto TV, Roku, COZI TV....).

Does Countdown have a plan to deal with Mark's brain tumor, with hopes for more seasons? –Aidan
Hmm, I'd sooner forewarn you that his headaches get much, much worse in the coming episodes — and at incredibly inopportune times. Bonus scoop: Soon, both the good guys and the baddies will come to worry they each have a snitch in their midst.

Will Billy, or Sarah, or both, find out Matlock's secret in Season 2? –Kristen
In the video above, Matlock's David Del Rio and Leah Lewis ponder the timetable for Billy and Sarah also knowing what Olympia now knows — and how extra-devastated Matty's two colleagues would be to learn that truth.

Is there any chance that Netflix — which picked up Star Trek: Prodigy after Paramount+ dropped it — will order a third season? –Jim
That looks as unlikely as ever, given that A) Season 1 of the animated series recently disappeared from Netflix after the streamer let the license expire, B) Paramount Global Content Distribution has been out there billing Season 2 as "Final Season," and, lastly, C) a source assures me there has been no movement on a Season 3.

Is Nautilus on AMC designed to run more than one season, or is it a limited series? –Shirley
Given that the 10-episode season ends with a flurry of fun twists, reveals and cliffhangers, it was absolutely conceived as an ongoing series. Though Nautilus has been docked for a while — Season 1 wrapped way back in January 2023, after which the show became a bit of a hot potato passed from Disney+ to others — the premiere did do good numbers for AMC.

When Hallmark removed their library and live channels from Peacock, I lost the ability to watch future episodes of one of my favorite shows, The Way Home, live. Is there any word on the street about Hallmark+ adding live streaming channels? Other services, like Paramount+ have live CBS channels. –Beth
I am told that there are no plans at this time for Hallmark+ to add live streaming. That said, all Hallmark originals do stream next day on Hallmark+ — plus, those who access Hallmark Channel via a cable provider can access live Hallmark programming via the Hallmark TV app.

Any last Criminal Minds Season 18 scoop? –Claire
When I spoke to showrunner Erica Messer ahead of the finale, she said that given how last week's episode ended, we should be much more worried for Aimee Garcia's Dr. Ochoa than for Voit himself. "I mean, she's not a killer, so she doesn't have those instincts to protect herself that he has," the EP reminded.

What about the Criminal Minds finale cliffhanger leads us into next season? –Lynn
Honestly, nothing jumped out at me at hinting what Season 19 will be about; the final sequences are more about making clear what it won't be about. Showrunner Erica Messer teased the very end of the season thusly: "Things are settled, for now, at the BAU; I feel like they have a little bit of a reason to go celebrate." Viewers, however, will be left to chew on a big ol' question regarding Voit.... Bonus Non-Scoop: Oh, also, since it's been spoiled by a sneak peek floating around out there: Jordana Spiro (My Boys) guest-stars in the finale.

Will Apple be renewing Pachinko for another season? –Cassandra
I ask... and I ask... and nothing I keep hearing. Sad.

When Georgie & Mandy returns for Season 2, how will Mandy's dad Jim (played by Will Sasso) be spending his retirement? Are he and Audrey going to travel, as they discussed in the Season 1 finale? –Meg
Jim is "not built for retirement, and it's the thing we talk about in the writers' room," series co-creator/showrunner Steve Holland tells TVLine. "My dad is retiring now, and he'll be 81 — he put it off for so long because he was afraid of that. And I think part of the fun with Jim in Season 2 is that he's not built for retirement. You have all these great plans of what retirement is going to look like, and all the freedom you'll have, but when faced with the reality of it, it might be a little more boring and daunting than it seems [in the moment]."

This will be short and sweet: Will there be a Season 2 of Mid-Century Modern? Hulu is taking its time to make a decision on the hit comedy. –JK
Hulu is taking its time — and as of Tuesday evening, there was still no decision — but hey, in today's streaming climate, no news is good news, amirite?

Any update on S.W.A.T. EXILES and who the cast might be? —Sebastian
With filming on the spinoff now penciled in to start mid-September, casting is underway for a charismatic, Black former Marine from South Central; an undercover cop with a questionable shooting in his past; an amputee who was at the top of her class at the academy and refuses to ride a desk; a tactical prodigy with a disruptive lack of social skills; and a former beauty queen who now works as a law enforcement "influencer."

When is Heartland coming back on? –Brenda
Season 19 was announced in May, and filming only began about six weeks ago, so we are a ways off from any premiere timetable (Stateside or otherwise).

I was excited to hear that St. Denis Medical will be back this fall. Is there any early buzz on Season 2? –Deanne
Now that the NBC comedy has secured a sophomore run (premiering in November), showrunner Eric Ledgin plans to tell "a couple of out-of-the-hospital stories" in Season 2 "that we didn't have either the budget or the will to do in Season 1." That said, episodes that take place outside the walls of St. Denis — one potential ep will follow the docs to a medical conference, for instance — will still make sense within the show's documentary conceit, Ledgin emphasizes. "[We're] not necessarily going home with our people, but just getting out into the world and seeing a bit of how they behave when they're not in the confines of work," he tells us. "It's not just like, 'Hey, they're going to the park on a weekend, and we're going with them.' They're getting out in a professional or semi-professional capacity."

Any rumblings about another season of Leverage? –Matt
Not yet, nope. But remember, the latest finale only dropped June 5, and it took a full 10 months for the Season 3 renewal to happen.
