Paramount+ Cancels 4 Series, Including Grease, The Game And Star Trek: Prodigy
As Paramount+ prepares to combine with Showtime, the streamer has opted not to move forward with four major titles, TVLine has learned.
The Game, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe and Star Trek: Prodigy will not be returning for additional seasons on Paramount+.
Star Trek: Prodigy comes as the biggest surprise of this bunch, as the animated series had already been renewed for a second season. Though Prodigy will be removed from the streamer "shortly," post-production is being completed on Season 2 and the studio will attempt to find a home for it. Meanwhile, Paramount+ says it remains committed to its upcoming slate of Star Trek projects, including the YA-targeted Starfleet Academy and the movie event Star Trek: Section 31.
As for Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Paramount Television Studios has the option to pitch the series to other networks and streamers. The same goes for CBS Studios and The Game, which previously aired on The CW (2007–2009) and BET (2011–2015) before being revived again on Paramount+ in 2021.
Lastly, drag singing competition Queen of the Universe finished its eight-episode second season earlier this week and will be available to stream in its entirety until it is removed from the Paramount+ library on June 30.

The Game
Prior to being revived on Paramount+ for two additional seasons (2021–2022), this football drama ran for three seasons on The CW (2007–2009) and six more on BET (2011–2015).
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies
A prequel to the 1978 movie adaptation of the musical Grease, this series about the origins of the Pink Ladies aired for a single 10-episode season, wrapping its run on June 23.
Queen of the Universe
This drag singing contest did a surprise drop of its final four Season 2 episodes earlier this week, revealing the show's second (and final) winner. Season 1 streamed in 2021.
Star Trek: Prodigy
This animated series set in the Star Trek universe aired its 19-episode first season from October 2021 to December 2022. As reported above, the second season will still complete post-production and the series will be shopped around.
