Dexter: Resurrection Trailer: Dexter Meets A Ragtag Crew Of Fellow Killers And Reunites With Batista — Watch

This summer, Dexter Morgan is getting in the New York groove.  

The sequel series Dexter: Resurrection will stream its two-episode premiere Friday, July 11 on Paramount+ With Showtime, before airing on the cabler Sunday, July 13 at 8/7c. Episodes will then roll out weekly. 

In conjunction with the show's panel held Saturday at Mexico City's CCXP, the network has unleashed the show's official trailer. In the new scenes, we see Dexter finally come face to face with Detective Angel Batista before high-tailing it out of the hospital and heading to New York City, a place he thinks will be the perfect location to hide. It's there where he meets Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), a man obsessed with serial killers, and his head of security Charley (Uma Thurman). The Dexter: New Blood continuation takes place weeks after Dexter (Michael C. Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. "Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right," reads its official description. "But closure won't come easy. When Miami Metro's Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together." 

Dexter prequel series Original Sin wrapped its freshman run on Feb. 14. In the prequel's premiere, we saw Dexter being hoisted onto a gurney, while medical professionals raced the clock to try and save his life. As a result, his life flashed before his eyes, allowing Hall to serve as the narrator for the offshoot that chronicled Dexter's early days at Miami Metro PD. 

Dexter: Resurrection will be executive-produced by Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Dexter: Original Sin), who also returns as showrunner. Hall is on board as an additional EP.

Kill Bill vet Uma Thurman joined the cast in January and will play the role of Charley, "the head of security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater," according to the official character breakdown. "A former Special Ops officer, Charley worked various high-level private security jobs before taking on her position as the resourceful and meticulous right-hand woman for Prater."

Game of Thrones vet Peter Dinklage will be playing billionaire venture capitalist Prater. "To the world, Leon is a generous philanthropist, but behind his polished exterior lies dark intrigue," reads the character's official description.

Prater may even be the season's main antagonist. We'll update with more character information as it becomes available.

Krysten Ritter is also joining the cast as a guest star. The Jessica Jones alum will play Mia Lapierre, a famed sommelier whose alter ego is the "Lady Vengeance" serial killer.

Neil Patrick Harris will also guest-star as a character named Lowell. Details remain a mystery, but we'll be sure to add them as they're announced. Plus, Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) is set for a "high-profile guest arc," appearing in four episodes as Al, a character who is believed to be a serial killer.

David Dastmalchian — best known for his work in films like The Dark Knight, Blade Runner 2049 and Oppenheimer — will also guest-star as a character named Gareth, but additional details are being kept under wraps.

Additional castings were announced in February, with Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (The Chi), Kadia Saraf (Law & Order: SVU), Dominic Fumusa (Nurse Jackie) and Emilia Suárez (Up Here) joining the cast.

Mwine will play the role of Blessing Kamara, "a rideshare driver who radiates unwavering optimism and a man devoted to his family and community," reads the official description. Saraf will play Detective Claudette Wallace, a razor-sharp investigator known for her methodical precision and unrelenting focus. Fumusa will play Detective Melvin Oliva, Wallace's partner at the NYPD who is the only one that understands his quirky partner. Suárez will play Elsa Rivera, Harrison Morgan's vibrant and determined friend and co-worker at the Empire Hotel.

Steve Schirripa, best known for his portrayal of Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri on The Sopranos, has joined the series in the recurring guest star role of Vinny, Elsa's (Suárez) creepy and intimidating landlord.   

In addition to Hall, three other Dexter veterans have been announced as series regulars: Zayas, Alcott and James Remar.

Zayas (Oz) and Remar (Black Lightning) will reprise their roles from the original series. Zayas plays Detective Angel Batista (who also returned for two Dexter: New Blood episodes), while Remar appears as Dexter's late father, Harry Morgan. Alcott (The Good Lord Bird) will be back as Dexter's son, Harrison Morgan, who first appeared all grown up in Dexter: New Blood, the original's sequel series that debuted in 2021.

In addition, David Magidoff has joined the recurring cast of Dexter: Resurrection reprising his New Blood character of Teddy Reed, an officer from the Iron Lake Police Department, reports Deadline.

Dexter's chief of police girlfriend Angela eventually figured out that Dex was a killer — and pegged him to some of the crimes committed by the Bay Harbor Butcher. Dexter was eventually arrested for the murder of Matt Caldwell, but in order to evade trial (and a rather uncomfortable reunion with Batista), Dexter broke his code and murdered the extremely innocent Sergeant Logan in order to escape prison.

As a result of learning about Logan's demise, a brokenhearted Harrison met up with his father in the woods. But instead of father and son getting out of Dodge together, Harrison pointed his rifle at his own flesh and blood and pulled the trigger. One direct hit later, Miami Metro's former blood spatter analyst — and the city's evasive Bay Harbor Butcher — was finally dead. Or so we thought at the time.
