Remember that time Chicago P.D.‘s Kim Burgess was kidnapped and shot, and she nearly died?
That harrowing experience will come back to haunt her in the NBC procedural’s 200th episode, set to air next Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 10/9c.
The hour, titled “Trapped,” finds Burgess and her life partner Ruzek “trapped aboard the busy ‘L’ subway train,” per the official synopsis. “As they piece together scant evidence, the team is drawn into a dark family drama. Burgess’ proximity to the shooting triggers harsh memories.”
Burgess showed signs of PTSD earlier this season, with her hand involuntarily shaking in Episode 8. Showrunner Gwen Sigan previously opened up to TVLine about Burgess’ trauma, and how the Intelligence cop will be forced to finally confront it in the coming episodes.
“[It] gets to a point where she can’t really ignore it,” Sigan teased. That will bring about new revelations, and it “shapes her in a new way this season when she finally confronts it and realizes, ‘This is something I have to have to deal with, [that] I have to figure out and make part of my life.’”
The Chicago P.D. boss also noted that when Burgess does dig into her PTSD, it will bring clarity on how she reacts to things and also “strengthen those bonds she has with her daughter, and with Ruzek.”
With next week’s episode zeroing in on Burgess and Ruzek, we’ve compiled the first photos, which you can check out below.

Clarity?
