Do you have any fun teasers of what will happen on Abbott Elementary? –B.J.
When we spoke with co-showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, the former effused, “I’m so excited for people to see our Halloween episode. I think it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done. When I think about it, I’m like, ‘Oh, man, people are going to lose their mind about this.'” Schumacker in turn added, “I did not envy our director, Shahrzad Davani, on that episode. It was such a puzzle putting it together with, obviously, everybody in crazy costumes. And there’s more action than one might expect.”
Will we learn more about or explore Tim’s backstory/family this season on The Rookie? –Ashley
In a word, yep! “We love Peyton [List], who plays his sister, so she’ll come back, and we’ll dive into that a bit more,” showrunner Alexi Hawley told me. “Ultimately, there’ll be Dads house to sell, so, ‘What is that like?’ Yes, we’ll definitely keep going with Tim’s backstory.” Bonus scoop for Inside Line emailer Bonnie: Helena Mattsson will be back as Ashley.
Will Joe Hill be around a bit more in Blue Bloods Season 13? His presence makes the show more interesting. –John
Showrunner Kevin Wade told me that he expects to have Will Hochman around as Joe “a fair amount” this season — starting with the Oct. 7 premiere, “where’s theres some crossed wires in an investigation between him and actually Erin and Anthony, and Danny.” Echoing what you said, Wade likes Joe as “a wonderful character to write who’s a Reagan and who’s not a Reagan. He did not drink the whole vat of Kool Aid of ‘duty and honor and NYPD’ and that stuff. We love to have a little outlet where we don’t have to be so ‘true blue’ about the whole thing.”

Dexter is dead leave it alone please
Agreed
Let Dexter stay dead. I enjoyed the limited series and felt that – while not perfect – the ending gave proper closure to Dexter’s story. We don’t need a “Dexter: The Next Generation” with a whiny Harrison…
Please focus more on cases with ncis la. Not interested in deeks and Kensington personal life. You remember cases that ncis used to solve.
Should say kensi…
I lost interest when he bought the bar.
I totally agree, I really don’t like Deeks character…more of solving crimes would be nice change.
Not Sqweegel! That episode of CSI is the only one that scared the sh*it out of me. I’ve never been able to watch it a second time…
NCIS LA: I don’t see the point of that kind of episode trying to happen now. It’s been years since there’s been any new details on his past, and with everything that has been full on changed or slightly changed, what are the odds are that everything about his past wouldn’t be fully retconned simply because the writers can’t remember everything else about his past because of how long it’s been? I say just let his past be before any of it can be butchered.
I actually liked the bare minimum of Deeks past until it was revealed he murdered his partner. Yes his partner was a corrupt cop who threatened to kill an informant Deeks cared for and tried to get out of the crime life but I don’t see Deeks being the type to make such a dark choice. Callen maybe as he had CIA training and they specialize in ’eliminating targets’ Sam obviously would given his SEAL past and maybe Kensi the three would have made the choice to kill a man like that but Deeks was always the team’s moral compass him killing someone that way muddies any morality he preaches.
Thank you for answering my Chicago question! Looking forward to the mini crossovers :)
Should have never sent Dr. Rhoades away, his character was great and is missed. Since he went away multiple original cast have left on their own and both replacement characters from last year have left also. Bring back a fan favorite who didn’t want to leave to begin with.
If you bring back Dr. Rhoades, then Dr. Reese must also return!
I’m looking forward for Kim,Kevin and Adam to get promoted, I also want the writers to send new love interests for three of them. For Adam and Kim they deserves better than each other and need to move on from each other and date other people. For Kevin Atwater he denfenly deserves a better love interests than the women that the writers send him as love interests. I would love it if the writers would give Kim and Kevin a romance. Pleaseeeeeeeeeese get back together romantically Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett back together they’ve deserves each other. I would love it if the writers would bring back Antonio Dawson back to Chicago PD.
Sadly they ruined Antonio beyond recognition by making him a junkie. He was the Cyclops to Voight’s Wolverine. The stick in the mud dogmatic rule abider who truly stuck to his guns and measured morality to Voight’s more fast and loose charge head first ways. Sure they disagreed but they always had each others backs. More importantly Antonio was the last true unit member that was not only Voight’s equal but his friend an actual confidant not some moody teenager that needs handholding like everyone else in intelligence. Voight even called him ‘bro’ something he never called anyone not even Al until recent seasons had him saying ‘bro’ to Halstead every damn second when he never did before. They didn’t even give Antonio a proper episode send off like they do with hypocrite Halstead and Halstead was on of the show’s two founding characters. Even if he wasn’t doing La Brea I don’t expect Jon Seda to return given they shortchanged him.
Totally disagree about Casey and Brett, may be the most vanilla couple in all 4 of the Chicago shows. On top of no chemistry with each other I am creeped out by the dating my best friends ex husband aspect. I thought it would have made more sense for Casey to follow Dawson, their chemistry is what made me a fan of Fire to begin with. It writes itself, Casey finds out that Dawson got pregnant the night the slept together after the party she was in town for. He then goes to be with his true love and their child.
Good thing you are not a writer.
Brett and Matt Casey is a definite yes. Lotta chemistry there. Antonio, I guess so if his sister stays away.
Dexter — a show that managed to have two of the worst finales in the history of TV. Not interested in a second season without Dexter.
I totally agree with Eric on both counts!
Here’s a question: Has “The Nevers” been quietly shelved by HBO? Filming finished in December…
I would guess the next announcement for the show will basically be saying the final six episodes are all we have and that the show is ending. Remember though Matt put an email address at the end of the article for questions like these.
Kevin should be the one promoted on PD. Kim is to flighty, ruzek is too much of a hothead. Hailey is too damn self-righteous. Kevin is just a good solid dude. Besides with the ways the showrunners have screwed him over in terms of relationships, they owe him. The best overall character since AL died as mist likeable as well.
Dear Showtime, respectfully, nobody wants a Dexter show featuring Harrison. NOBODY… that being said, I think my fellow fans would support my request for a spin-off featuring our favorite lawman Angel Batista. We need more David Zayas on our screens!
Can anyone talk about Stella’s family?
What’s this thing about bringing gf to do an edge in a series, look how many people waiting and you do it. Be professional.
Once more in English?
I laughed out loud at that “Dexter” quote. That add-on season started out promisingly, and then turned into a train wreck. I didn’t think it could get worse than “Dexter runs away and becomes a lumberjack,” but it did.
We all know Sigan is running her mouth she has proven to write nothing but cheesy ship drama for unit members. A year and a half of running PD and she’s turned it into a CW show. We all know with Halstead leaving Sigan can’t write for else besides Uptight because she doesn’t care about anyone else. She is rivalling Rick Eid in terms of show runner incompetency. As for the detective thing nothing but talk they had 4 years to do it for Atwater Burgess and Ruzek but only used the detective title to prop up the Lannister twins.
Are Nolan and Chu going to be at the wedding in The Resident?
And Marshall Winthrop?
I tried the opening episode of Abbott Elementary. Still don’t think it’s funny. Guess every show isn’t meant for everyone to like! Love The Cleaning Lady, though. Excited to see Laveen Andrews join the cast.
Oops – NAveen Andrews!
I’m still in love with NA since Lost. Eye candy!
That’s the exact right attitude! I hate some of the highest-rated shows on tv, but know I’m not the target audience. Even though they are, by design, very broad. I just don’t watch them and watch the shows I do like rather than making a big deal about them being “trash.” Wish more people were like us. Lol
Singing in the Christmas episode of “Ghosts”? Ooh. That sounds fun :D! And yes, I’d be all for Jay getting to sing, too, if they’re ever able to work that out. A musical episode in general would be an absolute blast.
.
And I can’t wait to see what “Abbott Elementary” does for Halloween.
Now that Kyle is engaged (thank God). I still want granger back for Brett. They can’t rush any romance for her now that they ruined everything with Brett and Casey’s romance!!
Gwen Sigan is the worst show runner ever. She doesn’t understand the characters and slowly ruining them. Get rid off her. Chicago PD deserves better! 🙄
I absolutely dislike the crooked cop storyline on Chicago police. Voight has his personality and you can adjust for the common hood but this sour line of plucking is a turn off. The producers have gone too far. It’s no longer decent
