Found Boss Explains That Final Sir Moment And Why Gabi Will 'Start To Question What She's Done'

Gabi is switching things up with Sir.

After helping to bring an undocumented missing girl home and later opening up to Trent about her dad, Tuesday's episode of Found saw Gabi change the rules with her former kidnapper. She returned his books and other belongings, noting that things were going to be different from now on.

"I will no longer treat you like you've treated me — praise and intimidation, carrot and stick," she declared. "You made me you, and I am not you. I'm a Mosely."

And while she didn't free Sir like he dared her to, the revelation marks a shift in how Gabi will deal with him moving forward. Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll tells TVLine that this is just the start of her healing journey in Season 1.

"She was so consumed with using Sir [to] right this wrong," Carroll explains. "She was so consumed with saving lives by any means necessary [and] by the changes that happened in her life after her father passed away that she lost herself. That moment where she realizes, 'I don't want to become you,' is huge for Gabi. It's the first time we start to feel like, 'Oh, healing is happening.'"

As Gabi continues to heal, the more she will "start to question what she's done and if she's really become the type of monster that she hunts every week," the Found boss adds. "We're really going to see her come up against that and battle the reality of the benefits to have Sir help her" as well as a "little bit of revenge for what he did."

"The balance of whether that outweighs the positive of being able to find more victims more quickly, which means more people's lives saved," Carroll teases, "that question of whether it's worth it or not is something that Gabby will increasingly struggle with as she finds herself again."

Gabi's tense exchange with Sir ended with the latter showing her the potential weapon — a wooden shard he accidentally ripped from an overhead beam — that he could have used against her.

"I'm not the monster you think I am," he insisted as he offered it to her.

With Sir passing up the chance to even try to escape, that raises numerous questions: What is motivating him to stay? Does he really care for Gabi? And why did he kidnap her in the first place?
