Spring/Summer TV Schedule Changes

As the TV industry adapts to the coronavirus pandemic, many new and returning series have postponed their premiere dates, while others have actually been moved up earlier. When will those affected shows reach your TV screens? Scroll through our gallery below to see a complete list of the current schedule changes.

BILLIONS

Season 5, which premiered on May 3, will now be split into two parts. The season's first seven episodes will air without interruption on Showtime (with the summer finale set for June 14), and the remaining five will air later this year.

THE AMAZING RACE

Season 32 of the reality competition, which was slated for a May 20 premiere, is now being held until later in 2020, given the series' value to CBS as a "utility player" that can air at any time of year.

ARCHER

The animated comedy was supposed to return for Season 11 on May 6, but will now be back later in 2020.

THE BACHELOR SUMMER GAMES

This spinoff of ABC's reality dating franchise, which was intended to air during this year's Summer Olympics, has been scrapped altogether. It's not yet clear if ABC will try to bring the show back in 2021, when the Olympics are now scheduled to take place.

FARGO

Season 4 of the FX anthology — which was scheduled for April 19 — has been postponed after production was halted. FX currently hopes to bring the show back later this year, but "a new premiere date will be determined once production resumes," the network said in a statement.

FRIENDS

Due to suspended production, the unscripted Friends reunion special was not ready in time for HBO Max's launch on Wednesday, May 27. A new timetable for the special's debut has not been announced.

GENIUS: ARETHA

The third season of National Geographic's anthology, starring Cynthia Erivo as legendary singer Aretha Franklin, has been postponed until Fall 2020 (from its original May 25 premiere date).

I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE

The six-part HBO miniseries, starring Mark Ruffalo as identical twin brothers, was held until May 10 instead of premiering on April 27.

PATRIOT ACT WITH HASAN MINHAJ

The Netflix political talk show — which was supposed to come back for Volume 6 on March 29 — ultimately postponed its return date until May 17 after temporarily halting production.

SNOWPIERCER

TNT's long-gestating series adaptation pulled into the station early: Originally slated for a May 31 premiere, Snowpiercer ultimately debuted on May 17.

STARGIRL

DC Universe's new superhero series premiered on May 18, one week later than originally planned.

THE WALKING DEAD

Due to interruptions in post-production, The Walking Dead's Season 10 finale has been postponed until later this year, when it will air as a special episode.

ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS

Originally set to air on April 5, the 55th annual ceremony will now take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.

BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS

The 2020 ceremony — originally set for April 29 — has been postponed, though a new date has yet to be set.

BLACK MONDAY

Similarly, Showtime's Wall Street satire will also air a split season due to the pandemic. Season 2 went on hiatus after Episode 6 (which aired April 12), and four more installments will air beginning Sunday, June 28 at 8/7c.

LOVE FRAUD

Originally scheduled for May 8, this Showtime docuseries will now debut on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 9/8c. The four-part project follows the search for Richard Scott Smith, who used the internet to con unsuspecting women out of their money and dignity.

NOS4A2

The AMC drama's second season will now premiere on Sunday, June 21 at 9/8c, instead of its original June 1 return date.

OUTCRY

Showtime's docuseries, which tells the complicated story of former high school football star Greg Kelley, has rescheduled its premiere for Sunday, July 5 at 10/9c.

QUIZ

AMC's drama about the U.K.'s 2001 Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? cheating scandal will now air on successive Sundays, beginning May 31 at 10/9c. The three-part series was originally set to air on consecutive weeknights, starting May 25.

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

This year's ceremony — which was to be broadcast live from Cleveland on May 2 — is now scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7 at 8/7c on HBO.

THE CHI

One of the few shows to get its return moved up, Showtime's The Chi will now be back for Season 3 on Sunday, June 21 at 9/8c (instead of July 5). The entire third season will air uninterrupted.

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF POTOMAC

Season 5 of the Bravo reality series has postponed its May 3 premiere date. It's now expected to return sometime this summer.

THE THIRD DAY

HBO's miniseries, starring Jude Law and Naomie Harris, has moved its May 11 premiere date to sometime this fall.

THE UNDOING

The Nicole Kidman-led miniseries will now premiere sometime this fall on HBO, rather than its intended May 10 launch date.

THE WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND

The latest Walking Dead spinoff, initially slated for an April 12 premiere, is now expected to arrive sometime before the end of the year.

TONY AWARDS

The 74th annual ceremony, which was to be held on June 7, has been postponed. A new date has yet to be set.
