Sabrina Photos: Sitcom Vs. Netflix Drama

SABRINA'S TEACHER
Sitcom Sabrina's science teacher Mr. Pool (played by Paul Feig, left) may have been "so annoying," but at least he was never possessed by a malevolent being known as Madam Satan. The same can't be said for Mary Wardell (played by Michelle Gomez, right), who eventually becomes a vessel used to lead Netflix's Sabrina down a dark path.

SABRINA'S COUSIN
While Sabrina's sitcom cousin Amanda (played by MJH's real-life sister Emily Hart, left) was a stone-cold brat — they bonded later on, but Sabrina will never forget being turned into a doll for Amanda's twisted pleasure — her Netflix cousin Ambrose (played by Chance Perdomo, right) is considerably more sophisticated. "Placed under house arrest by the Witches Council, Ambrose is forbidden from leaving the funeral home where he lives with the Spellman women. Witty, puckish and pansexual, he is one of Sabrina's partners in crime, always up for mischief."

SABRINA'S BFF(S)
No one survives high school alone, but while Sabrina had a revolving door of BFFs in the sitcom — including Jenny (played by Michelle Beaudoin, top left) and Valerie (played by Lindsay Sloane, bottom left) — the Netflix version only has one, a "brash, empowered and outspoken" girl named Rosalind Walker (played by Jaz Sinclair, right). Here's hoping that being the daughter of the town minister doesn't lead to any, ahem, complications for her friendship with Sabrina.

SALEM
These two kitties may look similar, but whereas the sitcom's version of Salem (voiced by Nick Bakay) mainly trafficked in harmless shenanigans, Salem 2.0 (voice TBD) is more sinister in his intentions... like that time he tried to enact the Book of Revelation, for example. It's also worth noting that new Salem was turned into a cat by the Devil himself as punishment for refusing to marry a witch he impregnated.

SABRINA'S RIVAL
Cheerleader Libby Chessler (played by Jenna Leigh Green, left) may have bullied Sabrina and her friends in the sitcom — she never hesitated to throw the word "freak" around — but that basic mean girl couldn't hold a candle to Sabrina's Netflix rival Prudence (played by Tati Gabrielle, right), a student at the Academy of Unseen Arts. Not only does Prudence lead a trio of witches known as the Weird Sisters, but she also "nurses a deep, personal and possibly life-threatening grudge against Sabrina."

SABRINA SPELLMAN
Like the sitcom version of Sabrina (played by Melissa Joan Hart, left), the newer model (played by Kiernan Shipka, right) is also a budding witch trying to balance #teenlife with her supernatural legacy. But while sitcom Sabrina concerned herself with school dances and Violent Femmes concerts, Netflix's version has slightly bigger fish to fry. Specifically, she's "all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world." Good luck, Sabrina!

SABRINA'S PRINCIPAL
Just as that vengeful maniac Willard Kraft (played by Martin Mull, left) ruled over Sabrina's high school with an iron mustache in the sitcom, so too will Netflix's Sabrina face opposition from George Hawthorne (played by Bronson Pinchot, right), the "villainous, Puritanical" principal of Baxter High. Like Mr. Kraft, this new authority figure is a "constant thorn in Sabrina's side, always trying to thwart our heroine and her friends' escapades."

HILDA SPELLMAN
Surprisingly, there isn't that much distinguishing sitcom Hilda (played by Caroline Rhea, left) from Netflix Hilda (played by Lucy Davis, right). Tonal disparities in their shows aside, both versions are considered Sabrina's "fun" aunt and have a penchant for magical mischief. According to Netflix, the new Hilda is "adept at brewing spite jars against her family's enemies" and "concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High."

ZELDA SPELLMAN
Both iterations of Sabrina's Aunt Zelda are the disciplinarians of their respective families, but while the sitcom version (played by Beth Broderick, left) spent her free time dabbling in chemistry, Netflix's Zelda (played by Miranda Otto, right) has slightly darker priorities: "Proud and devout, Zelda believes there is no greater honor than serving the Dark Lord as a member of the Church of Night." Yikes.

HARVEY KINKLE
Just like sitcom Harvey (played by Nate Richert, left), Netflix's version of the titular witch's "dreamboat" boyfriend (played by Ross Lynch, right) is "completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart." But while the worst thing to happen to sitcom Harvey was climbing a beanstalk and nearly being eaten by Shelley Long, Netflix Harvey finds himself in considerably darker life-and-death crises.
