MTV Movie & TV Awards 2019: Best & Worst Moments

BIGGEST KISS DISS

Guess that love triangle on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is officially over. While presenting the Best Kiss award, star Kiernan Shipka was pressed by castmates Ross Lynch and Gavin Leatherwood to say which of them was the best kisser. Shipka's response was sneaky: "It wouldn't be fair to Ross... to let everyone know what a great kisser he is." Congrats, Harvey!

FIERCEST SHADE-OFF

We wouldn't have thought to pair up comedian Nick Kroll and Drag Race champ Trixie Mattel as co-presenters, but they were actually a pretty damn magical combination — and we'd gladly watch a full season of them trading shade.

MOST DESIRABLE SEATING

Host Zachary Levi pointed out an absolutely star-studded table in the audience, with Tiffany Haddish, Sandra Bullock, Lizzo, Elisabeth Moss and Melissa McCarthy all sitting side-by-side. Girls Trip 2, anyone?

mtv-awards-the-rock-generation-award

MOST ROCK-IN' INTRO

To honor Generation Award recipient The Rock and his Samoan heritage, the show brought out dozens of dancers for a traditional Samoan dance set to Queen's "We Will Rock You." Yep, it rocked.

mtv-awards-nick-cannon-wild-n-out

WILDEST SELF-PROMOTION

A very excited Nick Cannon accepted the award for Best Host for his Wild 'N Out work, and took the opportunity to hype up the new season, a movie, a tour... all in about 30 seconds. Impressive!

mtv-awards-captain-marvel-stunt-women

MOST MARVEL-OUS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

After winning for Best Fight, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson heroically turned the podium over to her stunt doubles and trainers on the movie, Renae Moneymaker and Joanna Bennett, who were clearly touched by getting a rare chance to step into the spotlight.

LAMEST SPOOFS

We're trying to stay positive like Zachary Levi, so we just won't say anything about those way-too-long, way-not-funny-enough Game of Thrones and Us parodies of his.

DUMBEST AWARD SIDELINING

We know only Jacob Anderson showed up, but still, why did MTV give Game of Thrones its Best Show award on the red carpet — during a commercial break? Somebody really ought to be Dracarys-ed for that decision.

mtv-awards-ruth-bader-ginsburg

CRAZIEST NOMINEE

We knew this back when they announced the nominations, but it was still insane to hear Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's name announced as a nominee for Best Fight, alongside Game of Thrones and Captain Marvel. Speaking of which...

mtv-awards-elisabeth-moss

MOST TANTALIZING CROSSOVER

It's too bad Game of Thrones is over, because Handmaid's Tale star and winner Elisabeth Moss seemed to tip her cap to fellow nominee Emilia Clarke with a dragon-themed outfit. (We can still sign her up for a GoT prequel, right?)

mtv-awards-stranger-things

BIGGEST GROWTH SPURT

Is it just us, or are the Stranger Things kids looking like full-grown men these days? Based on this appearance by co-stars Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard, we'd say the Hawkins kids are ready to apply to college and register to vote in Season 3.

mtv-awards-dan-levy-schitts-creek

SCHITT-IEST WIN

Yay, Schitt's Creek actually won an award! The criminally underrated comedy's star Dan Levy took home the trophy for Best Comedic Performance, and he delivered a sweet, funny acceptance speech to boot — after stopping to high-five Tiffany Haddish. Next stop, the Emmys!
