OMG, it’s Clark’s wig!
Step one: Apply the sideburns.
Step 2: Comb out the sideburns.
Step 3: Look at my cute legs dangling in the wind.
Step 4: Mat down my mane ahead of the wig application.
Step 5: Snap a pic of my hair completely covered in surgical tape.
Step 6: Apply the wig. Yes, this is the same exact wig Rhys uses on the show when he is playing Clark. Also, say hi to Peg!
Step 6: Rock the ’80s wardrobe.
Step 7: Add the final piece — Clark’s signature spectacles.
Step 8: Start acting like a cold war spy.
Step 9: Pose with my partner in crime Hanh (AKA “Jennifer”)
Step 10: Stay calm as Tracey and Peg put out a major fire — my sideburns have come undone! — seconds before we’re supposed to take the stage.
Step 11: Sideburn-gate averted! It’s show time!
Step 12: Tune out the rapidly increasing applause and laughter and STAY IN CHARACTER…
… which is easier said than done when Keri Russell is doing this right in front of me.
Seriously, I thought she was going to hurt herself she was laughing so hard.
The producers and cast join us on stage to accept their award. Keri — still laughing her ass off — comes in for a hug and I officially break character.
EPs Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields refer to our surprise as “the best thing that ever happened to us.”
Keri walks backstage and lets out a loud scream when she sees Peg waiting in the wings!
Matthew is also gobsmacked — Peg was in on it, too!
Time for the official group photo!
Matthew was a little annoyed that I looked so good as Clark, hence the side-eye he’s throwing me.
Hahn and I pose with our A-team, stylist Erin Barrow, makeup guru Tracey Anderson and Americans wig magician Peg Schierholz.
