AMY ADAMS

The newest (and current) Lois on the block, Adams starred opposite Henry Cavill in 2013's Man of Steel and 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She'll reprise the role later this year in Justice League, hitting theaters Nov. 17.

KATE BOSWORTH

Bosworth's stint as Lois was a blink-and-you-missed-it affair; the actress played her just once in 2006's Superman Returns, opposite Brandon Routh. (For what it's worth, she also lent her voice to the video game based on the movie, released that same year.)

ERICA DURANCE

The Canadian actress joined The WB's Smallville in its fourth season (2004) and ended up sticking around for the remainder of the series' run (2011). Despite numerous attempts, Durance's Lois never managed to put a ring on Tom Welling's Clark — even after the finale's seven-year time jump.

DANA DELANY

Though a few actresses have subbed in for Delany over the years, she remains the animated character's most recognizable voice. In addition to her run on Kids WB's Superman: The Animated Series — which ran from 1996 to 2000, and co-starred Tim Daly as the Man of Steel — Delaney also voiced the character in several episodes of Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited and The Batman.

TERI HATCHER

From 1993 to 1997, Hatcher shared top billing with Dean Cain (as Superman) on ABC's Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She went on to guest-star in a 2010 episode of Smallville as Ella Lane, the mother of Erica Durance's Lois.

MARGOT KIDDER

Kidder's tenure as Lois spanned nearly a decade; she starred opposite Christopher Reeve in Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987).

PHYLLIS COATES

One of the earliest known Loises, Coates played the intrepid reporter in 1951's Superman and the Mole-Men before starring opposite George Reeves in the first season (1952–1953) of the syndicated series Adventures of Superman. She guest-starred on a 1994 episode of Lois & Clark as Ellen Lane, the mother of Teri Hatcher's Lois.

NOEL NEILL

The first actress to ever play the iconic role, Neill appeared in Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs. Superman (1950), before taking over for Phyllis Coates on Adventures of Superman for its final five seasons (1953–1958). Not only did Neill go on to play Ella Lane, the mother of Margot Kidder's Lois, in Superman (1978), but she also landed roles on a 1991 episode of Superboy and in 2006's Superman Returns.
