Nonetheless, the Showtime spy drama deserves every of the many accolades it earned this first time around. "We're delighted and thrilled and a little startled by this," Danes admitted. "I don't think anyone was expecting to be recognized in this way right off the bat. It feels pretty nice."

On her role as a nun who runs Season 2's Asylum, Lange said, "It's a more complex story. Ryan [Murphy] likes to create these things around themes. "To be able to have a show like this, my work to be playing with these people and playing my character, for me, it's a dream," said the Colombian bombshell. "Even though Julie keeps winning all my awards, I'm still very happy and I will still keep coming."

Asked if Modern Family – two members of which are a gay couple — paved the way for other shows to introduce LGBT characters, showrunner/director Steve Levitan said, "Every time there's a show like Modern Family or Will & Grace ... that portrays gay or lesbian characters and it's successful, it just further opens the door. It makes executives more comfortable with that subject matter."
