The Echo Finale's Mid-Credits Scene Explained: Will Wilson Fisk Become [Spoiler] In Daredevil: Born Again?

The following contains spoilers from the fifth and final episode of Echo Season 1, now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.

Marvel fans have been starved for more details about the upcoming live-action Daredevil: Born Again series, which will see Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively. However, a mid-credits scene in Echo's Season 1 finale — which closed out a five-episode binge drop Tuesday on Disney+ and Hulu — may have just given us an important clue about what's to come.

The scene featured Fisk on his private plane calling a meeting to stabilize his criminal enterprise after going up against Maya (played by Alaqua Cox). He tuned into the news and watched intently as two anchors discussed the current New York City mayoral race.

The newsmen spoke on voters' desire for a "bareknuckle brawler" and "outsider" who isn't afraid to take on the establishment. As they mused on whether such a candidate existed, Fisk leaned in closer as if to say he's the man for the job.

It's been long rumored that Born Again would be adapting the Devil's Reign arc from the comics — which featured Fisk as the mayor of New York City — and this mid-credits scene all but confirms that that's the direction they're going in.

Fisk first appeared as mayor in 2021's Daredevil (2019) #28, written by Chip Zdarsky and illustrated by Marco Checchetto. He then returned for the Devil's Reign comic event series in December of that year, where he used his government position to outlaw vigilantism in the city.
