Mel B Is Bringing Brutal Honesty Back To America's Got Talent In Season 20 — Did You Miss Her On The Panel?
Mel B is bringing some spice to the America's Got Talent judges' panel in Season 20.
Tuesday's premiere marked the singer's first return to the NBC competition show since Season 13 — filling in for Heidi Klum, who's busy rebooting Project Runway — and she wasted no time reminding the contestants that she's not one to be played with.
Following a performance from the dance group Team Recycled, which left fellow judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara in total awe, Mel B countered with a slightly different opinion.
"Who does the choreography?" she asked the group. "I have a problem with you. The choreography at the start was so boring! If it wasn't for the switch around, I would have just literally turned off." Facing boos from the audience, as well as audible objections from her fellow judges, Mel B stood her ground: "Can I speak?!"
In the end, Mel B gave the group its only no, with the rest of the panel giving emphatic yeses. Questioning Mel B's judgment, Simon even clarified, "Back to planet Earth, that deserves 4,000 yeses." The whole ordeal even inspired him to give Mel B a fun new nickname: "Ms. Kill-the-Mood."
But here's the question: Is Mel B really a killjoy, or is she merely doing her job as a judge and, you know, judging? Aside from the obviously terrible acts, the judges don't tend to offer too much criticism anymore — and maybe that needs to change.
You tell us: Are you glad to have Mel B back on the panel after a seven-season absence, or do you miss having Heidi in the mix? Drop a comment with your thoughts on Tuesday's premiere below.
