Jensen Ackles Joins The Boys Season 3 as ‘The Original Superhero’
From Supernatural to superhero: Jensen Ackles has joined the Season 3 cast of Amazon Prime’s The Boys, reuniting him with onetime Supernatural boss Eric Kripke.
Ackles will portray Soldier Boy, who after he fought in World War II became the first “super celebrity” and a mainstay of American culture for decades. [pmc_inline_gallery]
“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” The Boys showrunner Kripke said in a statement. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother.
“As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos and danger to the role,” Kripke added. “I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”
Ackles this fall has the pandemic-delayed final episodes of Supernatural to film, in Vancouver.
The Boys‘ Season 3 renewal was announced during Comic-Con@Home in late July. Season 2 of the series will premiere Friday, September 4th, with new episodes available weekly through October 9th.
Finally 2020 brings some good news! Such an awesome casting, Jensen will be absolutely amazing on The Boys!
For him, I would watch. For Jared, I would watch. I hope Misha has something lined up afterwards. Jensen needs to bring the Dean voice and attitude, so the character will not be totally missed. I am missing them already, knowing there are only a few episodes left. In a way, thank hell for covid because the last season gets prolonged.
I love this so much!!! Now if only this pesky little pandemic can go away then they can ramp up production on season 3
Please play Soulja Boy when he makes his first entrance in the show, that would be epic.
This just go interesting now. He will kind of be the Steve Rogers in a way who bring that smoldering personality as the first superhero.

Kripke’s said Jeffrey Dean Morgan is on his list for The Boys season 3, so here’s hoping we get a full Winchester reunion!
Add this to another show I am going to get myself sucked into. I will forever follow Jared and Jensen in anything they do in their careers. The Boys has been on my list to try for a while, but Jensen joining the cast means I have to watch!

I’m sold on the fact Jensen will be playing a character that will have humor. Jensen really excels as a comical actor. I’m looking forward to seeing him still continue with acting projects after Supernatural. I was worried he’d end up like Sarah Michelle Gellar who is rarely ever seen on screen since Buffy ended.
I think it helps he’s going into a show that’s also a run by his former boss. (Who he’s very good friends with.) SMG didn’t have that luxury.
SMG, like a lot of actors/actresses, seems to hunt projects in which she could star. This has caused problems for the casts of similar shows (and some dissimilar) like PLL. They need to hunt for ensemble roles. Jarad is doing this. He’s the lead in the Walker show, but it is the lead of an ensemble where he is more likely to be the “first amongst equals” as opposed to the lead who is the clear load carrier on the show.

Jenson is wise to tread water next year, and wait for the entertainment industry to get closer to normalcy, at which point he can look for a more permanent role.

He’d be smart to look for a sitcom. He’d excel in comic work.
SMG did multiple movies post Buffy and even had several TV shows as a lead. Some were awful and cancelled (Ringer) others had other issues, like her show with Robin Williams (which was cancelled after his death)
The Crazy Ones was cancelled months before Robin Williams’ death.
If they play this even remotely how they did in the comics, he will be hilarious.
Nice casting, especially as Jensen Ackles was as one point considered to play Steve Rogers before Chris Evans was cast.

The final 7 episodes will begin airing on October 8th. Season 3 of The Boys likely won’t start filming for a while yet.

The cast and crew are currently back in Vancouver, but have to finish 14 day quarantine, then all be tested before shooting can begin.
I’ve liked him since I was 12 and he was on Days. 😂 Glad Justin Hartley and him were both able to break away from the soap gigs.
