The following contains spoilers from Friday night’s Season 10 premiere of CBS‘ Hawaii Five-0.
Hawaii Five-0‘s Kamekona might want to offer up a 10 percent discount on all menu items (beer and wine excluded!), seeing as the “Welcome back” party for Jerry doubled as a going-away party for longtime cast member Jorge Garcia, who is dropping to recurring status on the CBS drama.

An alum of such series as Lost (which also filmed in Hawaii) and Alcatraz, Garcia made his Five-0 debut in early Season 4, when conspiracy theorist Jerry Ortega was introduced as an old high school classmate of Chin Ho Kelly’s. When Five-0 was renewed for its sixth season, Garcia was in turn promoted to series regular status. Toward the end of Season 7, after helping the team escape a deadly jam, the ever-resourceful Jerry got his badge from Steve and became an official member of the task force.
But as revealed in the season premiere’s penultimate scene, though Jerry has recuperated from being shot by Azra Hassan, he has chosen to step away from the task force and live his life a bit differently — starting with the writing of a book that connects the United States Federal Reserve to the sinking of the Titanic.
“I’m grateful for my time on Hawaii Five-0,” Garcia shared in an exclusive statement to TVLine. “I loved getting to return to the islands, and creating a character that connected with so many people. Playing Jerry was a blast, and I look forward to popping in again to play with my TV ohana.”
Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov in turn said, “Jorge was a breath of fresh air from the very moment he joined the cast, and fans immediately took to Jerry’s quirkiness as well as his kindness. There will always be a place for Jorge and Jerry on Hawaii Five-0, and while we obviously wish Jorge the very best, we will sincerely miss him very much.”
Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 airs Fridays at 8/7c.
Thanks for the spoiler headline.
I agree with Wrstlgirl a few posts away that YOU ARE AN IDIOT!! STAY OFF THE INTERNET!!
Dave, you and Wrstigirl may need to work on your exegetical skills. It appears you’re assuming an interpretation instead of simply accepting the comment as it’s written.
Usually this site it really good about not posting spoilers tho. And I consider this headline a major fail in that.
I agree, Meg.
I’m very sad to see that Jorge won’t be on 5-0 full time, but I look forward to his guest appearances soon. Best wishes for all your future endeavours, Jorge!!
I’m really going to miss Jerry! He brought sensitivity and laughter to this already amazing cast. Wishing Jerry a fabulous life. He has lots of fans, and we will all be delighted to see him return anytime!
Really upset that Jerry is leaving, he brought smarts and humor to the show. Hope he comes back!!
I wasn’t sure about “Jerry” in the beginning–but, his character really grew on me. Am so sorry to see him leave–and am glad he’s coming back occasionally. Aloha Jorge!! Mahalo…..
Too bad Jerry’s leaving. I guess I’ll never get to realize my wish of seeing him and Kamekona have a WWE type rasslin match for charity. But really to me the ‘star’ of the episode was Tani’s gold dress.
When are people gonna learn that if you don’t want to see spoilers stay off the internet. Its not rocket science.
He just got married. Dont blame him for wanting to stay on the mainland
Y’all gon get it…
3 things that are certain in life…. death, Taxes, people complaining about a spoiler headline AFTER an episode airs.
I live in Arizona. It doesn’t air for about twenty minutes. TVLine has a good track record of not revealing things in their headlines, but nothing’s perfect.
I’ve come to learn that once it airs on the east coast all bets are off and it is on me if I’m spoiled.
Tv shows are serious for some apparently.
yeah yeah yeah if you don’t want to see a spoiler stay off the internet I agree with that EXCEPT in the case where it hasn’t even aired on my west coast yet. TV line is usually great at spoiler warnings but I won’t be losing sleep over getting spoiled by this. I’ll miss Jorge!
Haven’t watched 5’O since Chin and Kono left. However, I loved Jerry. Been a fan since Alcatraz. Catching up on Lost. Best wishes to him. Looking forward to his next project.
too bad since the show has gotten better with the new members imo…
Love The show keep up the great work .
I don’t watch this show anymore, but I love Jorge and I hope to see him on other shows soon! He’s a handsome devil and seems like a real sweetie :D
I will miss jorge/jerry
But they better pay it off
In a couple of seasons & we find out the book is a runaway best seller & he’s rolling in dough.
They can say that his publisher didn’t buy his research so they made it a fictional story so now he’s turned all of his conspiracy theories into a massively popular book series
I will miss him.
Will miss his on the show. His scenes were almost always fun to watch. Im
Hoping he can return for a few episodes and maybe some day as a full time cast member.
Also, I love that the beginning of the post has the spoiler warning, but the bigger title above it spoils it anyway. Well done, TVLine. 👍
Noooooooooo!
The spoiler has been out there for weeks that Five-O was losing “one of their own” in the season premier. I figured it might be Chi or Scott Caan since he supposedly still lives on the mainland and travels back and forth. I am sorry to find out it was Jorge as Jerry became one of my favorite characters. It was well publicized that someone was leaving so it shouldn’t come as that big of a spoiler. I really loved Daniel Dae Kim on Lost and Five-O but I honestly don’t miss him and Grace Park nearly as much as I thought I would. I really like the new cast members and I love the show.
I agree with you about not missing Chin & Kono. I think it’s the mark of a great series when major characters leave but the replacements meld in easily and frankly, you don’t even miss the other characters. It also keeps the show fresh with new personalities. I will definitely miss Jorge/Jerry. Hopefully another quirky character will be introduced.
I adored Jorge’s character….very sad…
I am so sorry to hear that Jorge will no longer be on the show. I really hope it was his choice. Honestly, I was hoping Scott was leaving. His character does nothing for me anymore. Love all the others. I never thought the show would be the same without Chin and Kona, but it has grown on me. Again, I hope Jorge didn’t have to leave for the new character coming on. She did seem to mesh well with the cast.
Happy to see Hawaii Five -o back .Jorge will be missed but at least he will be back from time to time .What the hell is Danny having a mid life crisis .With the shaved side hair and the mini Mohawk on top .So not a good look .
That’s what I said! So did not like the haircut.
We will miss you Jerry!
I have always loved Hawaii Five-O watch it as a kid and now watching the new series wish it would never go off the air sorry to see Jerry go but I guess you got other visions seriescontinues
Spoiler Headline fail. First thing I saw in my reader.
So Jerry is leaving to write a book about the connection between the Federal Reserve and the sinking of the Titanic. Interesting, because the Federal Reserve was not created until 1913 while the Titanic sank in 1912.
Possibly the sinking of the Titanic prompted the creation of the Fed?
I was very sorry to see Jerry leave the show. He was the only Latino in the program. I would like to him back as often as possible. Is he really going to write a book?
