Einstein: Rosa Salazar Exits As Female Lead After CBS Delays Premiere

Einstein is looking for a new partner: Rosa Salazar, who was set to star in the upcoming CBS drama alongside Matthew Gray Gubler, is now leaving the series, according to our sister site Deadline.

The culprit in this case is the one-year delay on the series that CBS announced earlier this week. Einstein was originally ordered for next season, but now has been pushed back to the 2026-27 TV season. When that happened, Salazar reportedly approached the network and producers CBS Studios with a request not to pick up her option, and they granted it, with the two sides mutually agreeing to part ways.

Einstein stars Criminal Minds veteran Gubler as Albert Einstein's "brilliant but directionless" great-grandson Lewis, who "spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases," per the official logline.

Salazar — an alum of Parenthood and Undone — was to have co-starred as Veronica "Ronni" Paris, a Detective Inspector for the New Jersey State Police "who went into law enforcement after the death of her husband." The role will now be recast.
