Days Of Our Lives' Wild Recast Revealed: See Emily O'Brien Wig Out As The New Theresa Donovan

Theresa Donovan, is that really you?

As clumsily spoiled in the Peacock soap opera's closing credits earlier this week, Emily O'Brien (aka Gwen Rizczech von Leuschner) is indeed slapping on a blonde wig for her debut as Days of Our Lives' new Theresa — and you've got to see it to believe it:

The big reveal came at the end of Days' Oct. 6 episode. Just as Gwen was boarding a flight out of town, Theresa's plane was arriving from Geneva.

"Well, Salem, it hasn't always been fun, has it?" Gwen said to herself before boarding the flight. "It's certainly been interesting. There are things about you that I have loved, as well as things that I've hated. I suppose you could say the same thing about me, though. I promise you, it might be goodbye for now, but you haven't seen the last of this girl."

What she meant, of course, was that we haven't seen the last of this girl... as a brunette. O'Brien reappeared seconds later, this time in the role of Theresa.

O'Brien replaces Jen Lilley, who has played Theresa on and off since 2013. The character returned to Salem this summer to attend Victor Kiriakis' funeral.

In a recent interview with Soaps.com, Lilley explained that she and the show's producers originally agreed to squeeze 12 weeks' worth of Theresa's storylines into the four weeks she was available — only to discover that they already planned to recast her with O'Brien and continue Theresa's story.
