TVLine Items: Days of Our Lives Exit, Roku’s Baking Show Renewed and More
Days of Our Lives star Camila Banus, who plays Gabi Hernandez, is saying goodbye to the NBC-turned-Peacock soap after 13 years, The Wrap reports.
Banus cited the show’s move to streaming as “a sign for me to start the next chapter in my life,” the actress told the site.
“Although it’s been wonderful and we’ve had a super great reception, for me, I felt like that was kind of like the initial start for changes happening in general,” she said, adding that she and her husband want to start a family.
“That’s another big factor in possibly just slowing down for a little bit and seeing kind of where this time takes me,” Banus continued. “But I’m also open to other opportunities and ready for big things. I’m just ready for something different.”
Banus’ last day of filming was April 28; an airdate for her final episode has not been announced yet.

It’s a shame that the soap is losing Camila but she is a talented actor who can take her career to bigger projects. All the best to her!
I love Gabi [and Camila] and will really miss her. Sad, too, because #Stabi finally got back together after being apart for so long.
It’s stupid they wouldn’t let her transition to part-time. She’s one of the best parts of the show, and always has been.

Camila Banus has already had a couple of well publicized Days departures and like so many other actors she returns after discovering the world isn’t really her oyster after all. Just wait – she’ll be back (again giving interviews about how much she missed her character and the show). Been there, done that.
I will miss Camila on Days – she is one of those actors who gets exactly what a role like Gabi requires and over-delivers. However, Gabi has been kinda stuck in the same gear for awhile now and this might be the only way to free her. Hopefully, whenever she returns, the character will be free of all prior business entanglements and can just have her own company. Business politics are NOT as engaging as the current writers seem to think…
Also, Camila was always so kind and outgoing at the Days of Days over the years. Definitely a big loss for the show.
I feel like they should’ve just kept Stefan gone. Stefan really doesn’t have much of a storyline without her. I mean without Gabi all that’s left for him to do is fight over DiMera that gets old real quick
