After winning an Emmy of her own in 2010, Jane Lynch is poised to take the next logical step: serving as host(ess) of the entire awards show!
The Glee baddie, who was named Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy at last year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, is reportedly thisclose to signing on as emcee of the 2011 festivities, says Deadline. Given that the Emmys are set to air this September on Fox — aka the home of Lynch’s hit musical dramedy — the choice of host seems to be the perfect fit.
Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…
• Can the man who brought you Survivor, The Apprentice, and Audrina (?!) really do justice to the stories of the Bible? History Channel sure hopes so. The cabler has given the green light to The Bible, an epic five-part, 10-hour series executive-produced by the man behind some of today’s biggest reality shows, Mark Burnett. Look for the “state-of-the-art” docudrama to air in 2013.
• HBO has picked up On Freddie Roach, a six-episode docu-series about the famed boxing trainer, says The Hollywood Reporter. The Peter Berg-produced project is slated for an early 2012 bow.
• The 65th Annual Tony Awards are right around the corner (airing Sunday, June 12 on CBS) and the TV types on hand to present the coveted trophy include Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Whoopi Goldberg (The View), Marg Helgenberger (CSI), and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), who is currently starring on Broadway in The Normal Heart. Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) will host the show for a second consecutive time.
Which TVLine Items have you talking today?
NPH hosted the Tony Awards 2 years ago–Sean Hayes did so last year though (so not consecutive).
Lynch would be interesting as an Emmy host. I’d hope she would use Sue-bits sparingly considering the character’s decline this season.
WHAT ABOUT FRINGE? ANNA TORV?
Anna needs an Emmy!
o god no please no jane lynch emmy hostess.
Please give us joel Mchale or maybe someone from Modern family. I’d like to see Sofia vergera and ed o neil
They’re on Fox, so it’ll be a Fox-star hosting. They have two comedies. One is a hit with a big, Emmy-winning star. It’ll be Lynch. There is literally no believable alternative.
Jane Lynch hosting the Emmy’s=WIN!!!
To bad, now she won’t win the emmy.
To = Too
She wouldn’t win anyway. It’s been a weak year for her material-wise, while meanwhile Sofia Vergara has been gaining buzz and steam all year. Objectively, the odds are in Vergara’s favor this year.
I like her as Sue but not as a host. Her SNL episode was boring and put me to sleep before midnight and I stay up til 2 most nights. The Emmy’s can do better.
Hopefully Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy will show as scriptwriters for this year’s Emmy ceremony. With Jane Lynch hosting, that has to be natural.
That would be perfect!
If Jane ends up hosting the Emmys, I’m calling it that Chris Colfer will end up taking home the Emmy for Kurt.
He probably will, but shouldn’t. His strongest moments this year were all dramatic, he is an average comedic preformer (but he is amazingly funny in interviews).
NPH should get it this year, he has been screwed over by the Emmy’s for too long now.
here is a poll about some other actors who will do better than Jane lynch

So I assume in Burnett’s version of the Bible that the Apostles will vote each other out one by one….
