NAACP Image Awards: Black-Ish, Insecure, This Is Us Lead TV Nominees

Nominations for the 50th NAACP Image Awards were announced Wednesday, with ABC's black-ish and NBC's This Is Us leading the comedy and drama fields, respectively.

black-ish scored nine nods, including recognition for Outstanding Comedy Series and lead performances from Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. (The sitcom won in all three of those categories at the 2018 ceremony.) HBO's Insecure followed closely behind on the comedy front, with five nominations total.

This Is Us also nabbed five nominations (including Outstanding Drama Series), as did Showtime's The Chi.

The NAACP Image Awards, which celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, will be broadcast live Saturday, March 30 on TV One.
