Emmys 2023 Poll: Who Should Win For Lead Actress In A Drama Series?
Missed yesterday's Emmy poll? Go here to vote!
This year's Emmy race for Lead Actress in a Drama Series has everything: first-time nominees, long-overlooked favorites... and a former winner to boot.
Among the six nominees, only one has won before: Elisabeth Moss, who's back for the fourth time for her harrowing work as June on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale after taking home the trophy in 2017. But her competition has been in the Emmy mix before as well, including Succession's Sarah Snook, who's competing in the lead category for the first time after a pair of nods for supporting actress. (The category move makes sense, since Snook's ambitious Shiv Roy grabbed the spotlight early and often in the HBO drama's final season.)
Also familiar to Emmy voters: Keri Russell, nominated for playing Kate Wyler on Netflix's freshman hit The Diplomat after three previous nods for The Americans; and Melanie Lynskey, back for the second straight year as the adult version of plane crash survivor Shauna on Showtime's Yellowjackets. They're joined by a pair of newcomers: Bella Ramsey, earning her first career Emmy nod as Ellie on HBO's zombie thriller The Last of Us; and Sharon Horgan, who nabbed her first acting nomination for playing murder-plotting sister Eva on Apple TV+'s Bad Sisters. (Horgan also has a pair of writing nominations to her credit from Bad Sisters and Catastrophe.)
So is it Snook's year to hear her name called when the Emmys are handed out on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8/7c on Fox? Or would one of the other women get your vote instead? It's a tough choice, but it's time for you to make it: Vote for your favorite in the poll below, then hit the comments to defend your pick.
