BravoCon 2023: Vanderpump Rules, RHONY Among Winners At Inaugural Bravos
"Sometimes, the best award shows are the stupidest," Watch What Happens Live's Andy Cohen declared during BravoCon's first-ever Bravos award show on Friday.
The unconventional awards ceremony — which will air Sunday at 10:15 pm ET on Bravo — honored the network's biggest moments, personalities and performances of the year with the help of song, dance, showgirls and "squashing that beef." In a nod to the devoted Bravo fandom fueled by meme-culture, many of the awards were named after iconic Bravolebrities or memorable moments in Bravo history — things only true fans would know.
Vanderpump Rules continued to ride its wave of success as cast members won the Who Said That? Award for Colloquial Excellence and the Greatest Shade Thrower. The Real Housewives of New York's all-new cast won Rookie of the Year, while Summer House and Below Deck also walked away with trophies.
Cohen presented original Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Vicki Gunvalson — who has been the face of the franchise for its entire 17-year run — with the biggest honor of the evening: the Wifetime Achievement Award. After a montage of her best moments, four former RHOC cast members — Jo De La Rosa (Seasons 1-2), Lauri Peterson (Seasons 1-4), Gretchen Rossi (Seasons 4-8), and Alexis Bellino (Seasons 5-8) — reunited on stage without a Sky top in sight to help celebrate Vicki's career.
While accepting the award, Vicki gave an emotional speech in which she thanked Cohen for "seeing something in me that I didn't see in myself" when she made her reality TV debut in 2006.
The Bravos also featured an In Memoriam segment, but instead of highlighting stars we lost, it remembered frivolous moments of despair — things like Gizelle Bryant's lost tequila bottle in Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, Lisa Barlow's missing $60,000 ring in Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and Padma Lakshmi's Top Chef retirement.
