Anna Pigeon appears to have found her wings.

USA Network's freshman drama series "Anna Pigeon," starring Tracy Spiridakos, has been renewed for a second season, TVLine has learned. The pickup comes just two days before "Anna Pigeon" airs its Season 1 finale on Friday, October 9, at 10/9c.

"'Anna Pigeon' has connected with audiences in a meaningful way, bringing a compelling new heroine and a fresh perspective to USA Network," said Michael Sluchan, Versant's senior vice president of scripted content. "We're thrilled to continue Anna's journey with Tracy, [showrunner] Morwyn [Brebner], [director] Lea [Thompson], and our incredible partners at Cineflix."

Added Brebner: "It's been really thrilling to see audiences fall in love with Anna and come to the park every week. We're so grateful to our cast and crew who brought Nevada Barr's iconic world to life with such heart and passion; we cannot wait to get back outside for Season 2."

What is Anna Pigeon about?

Based on Nevada Barr's series of novels, which began publishing in 1993, "Anna Pigeon" stars "Chicago P.D." vet Tracy Spiridakos as the title character, a former city slicker who becomes a park ranger after a devastating loss alters the course of her life.

"While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way," reads the official logline, which also promises "continued mystery and adventure" for Anna in Season 2. (It has yet to be confirmed if Season 2 will adapt "A Superior Death," the second novel in Barr's Anna Pigeon series.)

The show's cast also includes Paulina Alexis ("Reservation Dogs"), Ronnie Rowe ("Star Trek: Discovery"), Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica"), Kim Coates ("Sons of Anarchy"), Crystle Lightning ("Diggstown"), Cooper Levy ("Overcompensating"), and Melanie Scrofano ("Wynonna Earp"). Ahead of its August series premiere, "Anna Pigeon" received a "C" review grade from TVLine, with Dave Nemetz saying the show "could use more local quirk, like a slightly more dangerous 'Northern Exposure' or 'Parks and Rec.'"
