Mary J. Blige How to Get Away With Murder

Mary J. Blige will learn How to Get Away With Murder this fall.

The Grammy-winning singer — who played the Wicked Witch of the West in NBC’s The Wiz Live! — will guest-star during Season 3 of the Shondaland series, our sister site Deadline reports.

As is often the case with HTGAWM, details about Blige’s character are being kept under wraps.

How to Get Away With Murder returns Thursday, Sept. 22, at 10/9c on ABC.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* Netflix will premiere the talk show Bill Nye Saves the World in Spring 2017. In each episode, Nye will explore a topic from a scientific point of view, dispelling myths and refuting anti-scientific claims.

* Jason Ritter (Parenthood) has landed a recurring role in executive producer David E. Kelley’s Amazon drama Goliath, Deadline reports. The actor will play wry-but-savvy FBI Special Agent Joe Farley in the series about the ultimate David vs. Goliath battle fought in the 21st century American legal system.

* Kristoffer Polaha (Ringer, Life Unexpected) will guest-star on Fox’s new drama Lethal Weapon as a special agent with the ATF who lends his expertise to Riggs and Murtaugh, per The Hollywood Reporter.

* Fox’s The Mick has undergone a slight tweak ahead of its midseason berth, tapping actor-comedian Scott MacArthur to take over the recurring role of Jimmy from Nat Faxon (who was not expected to continue with the half-hour comedy if it were ordered to series). Jimmy is the degenerate on-again, off-again boyfriend of Mickey (star Kaitlin Olson).
