TVLine Items: Prime Suspect Prequel Cast, Two Quantico Additions and More


It’s time to meet Jane Tennison (again).

Stefanie Martini, (Doctor Throne, Emerald City) will in effect playa young Helen Mirren in ITV’s Prime Suspect prequel, tentatively titled Tennison and written by creator Lynda La Plante. The six-part series will follow the title character, played by Mirren from 1991 to 2006, at the beginning of her police career in London circa the 1970s.

Sam Reid (The Astronaut Wives Club), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners), Alun Armstrong (Penny Dreadful), Ruth Sheen (Unforgotten), Lex Shrapnel (Hunted) and Jay Taylor (The Bill) are set to costar.

* Tracy Ifeachor (The Originals) and David Lim (Supergirl, 90210) will recur on Season 2 of ABC’s Quantico as Lydia Bates, an accomplished actuary with twists up her sleeve, and Sebastian Chen, a confident future agent, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

* Joy Osmanski (Devious Maids, The Following) is set to recur on Netflix’s upcoming comedy series, Santa Clarita Diet, opposite Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.

* Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to produce an eight-episode TV series titled Pump, inspired by his past training as a Venice Beach bodybuilder, per Deadline.

* Real Time with Bill Maher‘s live Republican National Convention special (airing Wednesday, July 20 at 11/10c) will welcome filmmaker Michael Moore, political correspondent Joy Reid and advice columnist Dan Savage as panelists. On Thursday’s live show, the guests include economic equality advocate Heather McGhee, Cal. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and economist Robert Reich.
