Hamilton's Renee Elise Goldsberry Boards Netflix Drama Altered Carbon

Renee Elise Goldsberry‘s newest gig is plucking her out of the 1700s and dropping her into the 25th century.

Currently starring in the Broadway smash Hamilton — for which she recently won a Tony Award — Goldsberry has joined the cast of Netflix’s sci-fi drama Altered Carbon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the 2002 novel by Richard Morgan, Carbon is set in a futuristic world where the human mind can be digitally transferred from one body to another.

Goldsberry will play Quellcrist Falconer, a “master strategist” who’s leading a rebellion against the established order. She’s also the love interest of Takeshi Kovacs (played by The Killing‘s Joel Kinnaman), a warrior who — after being imprisoned for 500 years — is placed into the very future he fought to prevent.

In addition to her extensive work on Broadway, Goldsberry also boasts an impressive small-screen resumé. Along with recurring roles on The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU and The Following, she’s also made appearances on Younger, Masters of Sex and White Collar, among many other shows.
