SERIES AND EPISODE | The Mindy Project, “Homewrecker”
SONG | “Impatient”
ARTIST | Jeremih (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)
ALBUM | Late Nights (2015)
WHY IT ROCKED | The Mindy Project reminded us why we loved Mindy and Danny together when Jeremih’s soulful voice set the tone as the newly reunited pair (what did you expect to happen when these two were stuck overnight in an elevator?!) walked through New York City and exchanged “I love yous.'”

SERIES AND EPISODE | Game of Thrones, “The Winds of Winter” Screen Shot 2016-07-08 at 11.46.20 AM
SONG | “Light of the Seven”
ARTIST | Ramin Djawadi
ALBUM | Game of Thrones Season 6 (Music From the HBO Series) (2016)
WHY IT ROCKED |An epic sequence deserves an epic soundtrack, which is exactly what Game of Thrones gave its sixth season finale’s breathtaking wildfire explosion. The eerie score — a mix of piano, strings and scattered voices — built to a devastating crescendo to match the unchaining of Cersei’s wrath, as well as the growing concerns of Margaery and the rest of the episode’s unwitting victims, until… boom.

SERIES AND EPISODE | UnREAL, “Infiltration” Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 12.49.35 PM
SONG | “Kontrol”
ARTIST | The Baltic States
ALBUM | Boxes. E.P. (2014)
WHY IT ROCKED | One of the juiciest moments of the season thus far — Darius and Ruby sleeping together and Quinn’s hidden cameras catching the intimate moment — is accompanied by an upbeat, sexy song that screams drama is brewing on the set of Everlasting.

SERIES AND EPISODE | Dead of Summer, “Patience” Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 2.26.52 PM
SONG | “Patience”
ARTIST | Guns n Roses
ALBUM | G N’ R Lies (1988)
WHY IT ROCKED | The Guns N Roses song (that the premiere episode was named after) captures the inner turmoil of Camp Stillwater’s counselors while exposing their deepest secrets including Cricket’s self-hate, Alex’s stolen clothes, and the most surprising and powerful reveal of them all, Drew is transgender.

SERIES AND EPISODE | Containment, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” Screen Shot 2016-07-08 at 11.21.49 AM
SONG | “This Love”
ARTIST | Ryan Adams
ALBUM | 1989 (2015)
WHY IT ROCKED | Ryan Adam’s T.Swift cover adds extra goosebumps to the already heartbreaking scene where Jake holds Katie in his arms during her last few moments of suffering. He repeatedly tells her he loves her, and fans repeatedly reach for the box of tissues. Sniff.

SERIES AND EPISODE | The Night Of, “The Beach” Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 12.45.37 PM
SONG | “Into Dust”
ARTIST | Mazzy Star
ALBUM | So Tonight That I Might See (1993)
WHY IT ROCKED | In a scene that raises the stakes in the new HBO limited series, seemingly innocent Naz gets to know his mysterious new friend, Andrea, with the help of tequila, drugs and a knife. Mazzy Star provides the perfect, spooky soundtrack as the show takes its first twisted turn.

SERIES AND EPISODE | Pretty Little Liars, “The Talented Mr. Rollins” Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 3.12.14 PM
SONG | “New Ways”
ARTIST | Daughter
ALBUM | Not to Disappear (2016)
WHY IT ROCKED | While Hanna is trying to recover from being kidnapped/ tortured by A.D. and her breakup with Jordan (girl is having a rough season), Aria walks in to see the exposed scars on her back, and “New Ways” accurately reflects Hanna’s inevitable sadness.
