Donald Glover Comedy Atlanta Teases Launch Date in Backwards New Promo

Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) is heading to Atlanta this September.

FX on Thursday released a visually interesting new teaser for the semi-autobiographical series, which finds the two-time Grammy nominee playing Earnest “Earn” Marks, a college dropout who rediscovers his love for rap when his cousin (Vice Principals‘ Brian Tyree Henry) hits it big in the industry.

As Earn also attempts to make a name for himself, opposing views on art-versus-commerce, success and race arise. Keith Stanfield (Selma) and newcomer Zazie Beetz co-star.

Glover’s highly anticipated Community follow-up was first announced all the way back in December 2014; FX commissioned a 10-episode first season last October.

Are you looking forward to Atlanta? Back it up and watch the teaser above.

I might watch…but I was more into the Rihanna song in the trailer than the actual trailer itself.

That was not Rihana it was Tame Impala

      Can’t wait for this series.

    • Jules says:

I guess there must have been in a different song playing in the promo you watched because that song is not only NOT by Rihanna, it sounds nothing like Rihanna.

      • Sienna says:

Amber is confused because Rihanna released a cover of this song (with a different title, for some reason) on her latest album. I mean, it is a straight cover. Nothing changed except Rihanna sings it instead of Kevin. So a lot of people are more familiar with it than the Tame Impala original.

Good teaser for his new show. Glad it been announced when his new show would premiere. Excited to see his new show!
