TVLine Items: Kimmel Eyed as Emmy Host, Doctor Who on Amazon and More

Jimmy Kimmel Emmys

This just in: The 2016 Emmy Awards might just include some mean tweets.

Jimmy Kimmel is in talks to emcee this year’s ceremony, which will air on ABC in September, our sister site Variety reports.

Though nothing is set in stone yet, Kimmel’s got some Emmy experience under his belt: He hosted the 2012 broadcast and has presented at the primetime ceremony multiple times.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* After getting pulled from both Netflix and Hulu, Seasons 1 through 8 of Doctor Who will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime, beginning in March.

* PaleyFest announced Tuesday that it has added Hulu’s Difficult People to its 2016 lineup. The panel — which will feature stars Julie Klausner, Billy Eichner, Andrea Martin, James Urbaniak, Cole Escola and showrunner Scott King — will take place on Friday, March 18, at 7:30 pm PT in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.

* Action star Jean-Claude Van Damme is set to star in Jean-Claude Van Johnson, a scripted comedy ordered to pilot at Amazon. According to THR, Van Damme will play a version of himself — a famous actor and martial artist who comes out of retirement to resume his titular alter ego — in the potential series.

* Now that Randall Park is set to guest-star on Dr. Ken, Ken Jeong will return the favor by appearing on an episode of Fresh Off the Boat. Per Deadline, Jeong will show up in a May installment as Gene, Louis’ fraternal twin brother who arrives in town to invite Louis and Jessica to his wedding.
