Once Upon a Time Merida's Parents

TVLine Items: Once Finds Brave 'Rents, Chris Hardwick's Game Show and More

Once Upon a Time is introducing a Brave girl’s royal parents.

Glenn Keogh (Sons of Anarchy) and Caroline Morahan (Doctor Who: Alternate Empire) will play Merida’s father and mother in an upcoming episode of the ABC series, per The Hollywood Reporter.

King Fergus and Queen Elinor — who were voiced by Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson in the 2012 Pixar film —will  appear in the special, two-hour Nov. 15 installment.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* Comedian Chris Hardwick (@midnight) will host and executive-produce the NBC game show The Wall, from NBA superstar/Survivor’s Remorse EP LeBron James. In the series, two-person teams compete for big sums of cash that can be won or lost, depending upon whether a ball bounces your way or a trivia question is answered correctly.

* Carrie Underwood will headline Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016, airing on ABC.

* Betty White will guest-star on NBC’s midseason comedy Crowded, TVLine has confirmed. The veteran actress — who first announced the news via Twitter — will play a therapy patient of Carrie Preston’s character who becomes so attached to the whole Moore family that she won’t leave their house. White’s Hot in Cleveland co-star Jane Leeves also appears as her daughter.

Does Hardwick not have enough to do? Where does he find the time for all these jobs?

    • Mr. Tran K says:

Remember the heydays of MTV’s Singled Out along with co-host Jenny McCarthy and then Carmen Electra?

    • S. says:

I think when it comes to game shows they bank a bunch of them. It’s not that it doesn’t take time out of his busy schedule, but it’s not as problematic to fit it in as you might think. He works hard and seems to have fun with things like this. Good for him.

  2. Mr. Tran K says:

Not so sure if NBC is going to have another failed game show in The Wall hosted by Chris Hardwick. Remember when the peacock network had Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100 and a few others back then.

  3. Luis says:

    !. Who’s playing the bear?
    2. Everything goes better with Betty White.

  4. Funny how fans were in such a rush to get her that SNL hosting gig fearing she would pass away before it could happen. That woman is going to outlive everyone at this point. Amazing and as sharp as ever! 93 and still going strong!

    • The Watcher says:

You’re not wrong. She’s a legendary figure in both Television and Comedy and will be remembered for generations to come.

  5. Phil says:

Is this the first anyone else has ever heard about Crowded? Was this picked up under another name? All those people and it rings no bells!

  6. S. says:

I’m sure she’s good or she wouldn’t have gotten cast on this show, but Doctor Who: Alternate Empire? Did the Hollywood Reporter bother to look it up? I thought it was some known big fan thing and I’d been under a rock, but nope. It’s kind of misleading. If the makers of that hadn’t called it “Doctor Who” something, would be even have been brought up as a credit? I wish her well, but any association with DW is tenuous.

Will the Crowded episode be called “What about Betty?”
