Agent Carter Recruits Kurtwood Smith for Recurring Season 2 Role

Agent Carter Season 2

That ’70s dad is joining that ’40s show.

Kurtwood Smith has booked a recurring role on Season 2 of ABC’s Marvel’s Agent Carter, as Vernon Masters, a veteran of the War Department with a keen understanding of how to work the system.

“We had the pleasure of working with Kurtwood on both Resurrection and Chaos, and were well aware of what a commanding presence he is,” Agent Carter EPs Tara Butters, Chris Dingess and Michele Fazekas told “So when we were developing the character of Vernon Masters, we wrote it with him in mind. We just never thought we could actually get him. Thankfully, we were wrong.”

Airing Tuesdays during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s midseason hiatus, Agent Carter this season moves Peggy and the action to Los Angeles, names a new SSR boss, brings back (among others) Howard Stark and “Dottie” and adds a flurry of new faces.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported on the casting.
