iZombie Season 2

The CW's iZombie, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Get 5 Additional Script Orders Each

Not only is The CW hungry for more iZombie, but it’s also going Crazy for newbie Rebecca Bunch.

The network on Monday announced that it has ordered five additional scripts for both iZombie (returning for Season 2 on Tuesday) and newbie Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (premiering Monday, Oct. 12). This brings iZombie‘s Season 2 episode total to 18.

Of iZombie‘s upcoming second season, creator Rob Thomas tells TVLine to watch out for a “big reveal” about Major’s new mission in the premiere. As for Liv’s relationship with her ex, Thomas teases, “Liv is not avoiding Major… but Major is avoiding Liv.”

Guess they didn’t learn from last year. Know scripts doesn’t mean they will air but…..

    • zac says:

Actually last year, they ordered 3 additional scripts for Jane the Virgin and The Flash before it even aired. They went on giving the shows full season orders and both got renewed for season 2.

  2. crvboy says:

So does that mean that there are 27 scripts for iZombie? Since a season’s 22 and they want 5 more…

    • Andy Swift says:

iZombie was initially ordered for a 13-episode second season, so the total is now 18.

    • johnhelvete says:

iZombie season 2 order was 13 episodes with a back 9 order TBD.

      • 'A' Is Alive says:

Well there is a “back 5 order” now bringing the total to 18 (hence this article). Not sure if they’ll order 4 more scripts but I doubt it. Its not really needed. 10-18 episodes is good for shows nowadays. These longer seasons can be a drag and apparently, these showrunners don’t know how to pull off a 22-24+ season without it lacking somewhere in between. I’m a fan of the UK model tbh, 6-13 episodes a season and smaller runs (at least 6-7 seasons).

Can’t wait for more Izombie :)
CW must be really confident that Crazy ex-girlfriend will do well..don’t know how but ok.

  4. How are they gonna fit more episodes in with Whose Line ,Legrnds,Containment,The 100 waiting at midseason?Evn with Reign having 18 episodes& WL or The 100 replacing ANTM in Nov/Dec when it finishes, thers no room. They should cap them at 13.So that’ll give Reign,Crazy Ex,IZombie all 18 episodes if Crazy Ex,IZombie get backorders.Im not entirely suprised by this-Czw loves Crazy Ex,IZombie & in May or Sugthey said a backorder was a strong possibility for IZombie.

    • grass says:

CW by far has the smallest number of midseason shows; the next lowest is FOX with 9 on deck (and not including Masterchef Junior and World’s Funniest launching in November). You also missed Beauty & the Beast, which was renewed for next summer back in February. But on to how The CW could possibly launch their other midseason shows: Containment is a limited series that could come in after ANTP and could wrap its run in a couple months at the same time as Reign, making room for The 100 and Legends of Tomorrow by late Winter. Whose Line normally doesn’t launch until Spring. Simple.

      • Legrnds won’t air on Fri.I Rember BatB ,I just didn’t include it as its a summer show so it’ll have no effect on scheduling WL,Legends, Containment.

        • grass says:

Yeah, people keep saying that about Legends, but I think CW is also aware that they have dismal ratings on Fridays and Legends might just be able to give them a boost (and provide better lead-out support to The 100).

          • They don’t care about Fri,they’ll fix Thurs & improve Mon first and Legrnds is too high profile for Fri.Plus,Thyre unlikely to give a good leadin to The 100 again since it underperformance behind Arrow for two seasons.Legrnds is also likey too expensive for Fri.

  5. Ray says:

Less is more when it comes to many shows in terms of quality control. Don’t meddle with the creative process.

  6. Arvin says:

LOL The 100 is goner if these 2 shows get a back 9.

    • abby says:

The 100 was already renewed and while networks have went back on renewals before they usually do it before they go back into production and the 100 started filming season 3 in July. As the CW is already paying for it I’m betting they are going to air it.

  7. Annie says:

They do this but won’t even give the 100 a full season or a fall premiere? Okay why are they neglecting one of their most buzzed-about and progressive shows? It’s infuriating.

  8. murley says:

Yaaaaaaas for more iZombie. I have been so looking forward to its return and the only bummer was there were only 13 episodes to look forward to. This is awesome!

  9. Jared says:

Can’t wait for my CW shows to start this week. Curious to see where iZombie goes in S2.

  10. Lindsey says:

I am so excited for iZombie. The more, the better, as long as there’s not too much filler. I think 18 is a good number of episodes.

  11. Tom says:

Sweet excited for more izombie, crazy ex gf on the other hand, I’ll pass.

  12. Alyce H says:

I’m so glad and sooooo pumped that they got 5 more scripts ordered – I seriously love this show and can’t get enough of it! Aaaaah! :D So happy! :)
