Marvel's Luke Cage Confirms Misty Knight, Daredevil Brings Back Stick

Marvel TV apparently woke up on Wednesday not feeling like its typically coy self, and thus officially confirmed the characters being played by some recent Luke Cage castings.

For one, it is now double-secret official that Simone Missick (pictured) is playing Misty Knight, a Harlem police detective who is determined to learn the truth about Luke Cage. (Previously, Missick’s role had been described as “Missy, a woman with a strong sense of justice.”)

Per the Netflix drama’s logline, “After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (The Good Wife‘s Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern-day Harlem. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.”

“We know fans have waited years to see Misty Knight brought to life, so we had to find the right actress,” Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb said in a statement. “Simone blew us away with her performance as the strong-willed cop on a mission.”

Marvel TV also confirmed that Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) is playing Shades, a ruthless criminal with ties to Cage’s past; Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction) has been cast as Rafael Scarfe, an NYPD detective who partners with Misty Knight in their Luke Cage investigation; and Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives) is playing Mariah Dillard, a Harlem politician/cousin to Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (House of Cards‘ Mahershala Ali).

Marvel’s Luke Cage will debut sometime in 2016.

Over on Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil, meanwhile, it has been announced that Scott Glenn will reprise his role as “Stick” in three episodes of Season 2.
