Empire has cast Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) as Cookie’s oldest sister, who comes to Empire Entertainment in search of Taraji P. Henson’s character for reasons unknown, according to EW.com.

Tasha Smith has previously appeared on the Fox drama as Carol Hardaway, another of Cookie’s siblings.

Empire returns Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 9/8c; Fox will first appear in Episode 8 of the sophomore season.

* Embattled newsman Brian Williams will make his MSNBC debut on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as part of the coverage of Pope Francis’ first trip to the United States.

* Fox has purchased The Crusaders, an hour-long drama script exec-produced in part by Luther‘s Idris Elba. The project centers on an extended family of second-generation Africans living in the United States, who specialize in locating and returning valuable objects stolen from Africa during colonial occupation.

* Hank Azaria (Ray Donovan) has been cast in Wizard of Lies, HBO’s upcoming movie about disgraced financier Bernie Madoff (played by Robert De Niro). Per Deadline, Azaria will play Frank Dipascali, Madoff’s right-hand man in the $65 billion Ponzi scheme that landed him behind bars.

* In the week leading up to the 49th Annual CMA Awards (airing Nov. 4), Jimmy Kimmel Live! will feature performances from country music’s biggest stars, including Chris Young, Brett Eldredge, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Kip Moore, Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett.
