Supergirl Taps Salem Actor as DC Hero Red Tornado — But There's a Twist

There’s a storm brewing in National City this fall, courtesy of Iddo Goldberg.

The Salem actor has been cast in Supergirl as Dr. T.O. Morrow, better known to DC Comics fans as the creator of android Red Tornado, TVLine has confirmed.

Goldberg will not only play Morrow on the CBS series, but Red Tornado, as well. According to the official character description, “Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”

Interestingly, T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado are not the same person in the original comics, nor is Red Tornado a villain, as it seems he might be on the small-screen adaptation.

In addition to his role on WGN America’s Salem, Goldberg’s TV credits include Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Peaky Blinders, Mob City and Spike TV’s recent miniseries Tut.

ComicBook.com was first to report Goldberg’s casting. Supergirl takes off Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.

Because she doesn’t have enough villains they have to turn a good comic character into one..lol

  2. Alan Kistler says:

The article is a bit inaccurate in saying it’s weird to see him as a villain when he was a hero in the comics. The Red Tornado android began as a villain programmed to take down superheroes, then later reformed. We later learned he had even been an enemy to an entire planet earlier, under the name Tornado Tyrant. So introducing him as a threat is true to his roots.

  3. Joey Padron says:

Awesome he’s gonna be on show. Love him on Salem.

Iddo Yes! Looking forward to his episodes.

  5. Mark says:

The original android Red Tornado (as opposed to the original Ma (Red Tornado) Hunkel) was created by T O Morrow to be a threat to the Justice Society (and eventually the Justice League), so having the Red Tornado starting out as an antagonist fits perfectly with the silver age DCU.

  6. Gail says:

In current continuity Red Tornado is Lois Lane from Earth 2 whose conscientiousness was placed in an android body after she died.

    Isaac….. The fornicator

“Red Tornado” but there’s a “twist”. I get it ;)
