Big Bang Season 9: The Force Will Awaken Sheldon, Leonard & Co.

There’s been an awakening… and The Big Bang Theory is definitely going to feel it.

The Star Wars-obssesed sitcom’s upcoming ninth season will feature a storyline about The Force Awakens, exec producer Steve Molaro confirms to TVLine.

“We’re talking about how that will be weaved into [the guys’] lives,” he says of the J.J. Abrams-helmed pic, which lands in theaters on Dec. 16. “And we have some really cool ideas.”

Considering Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj’s obsession with the franchise — not to mention their brushes with Star Wars vets Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones — Molaro concedes, “it would be weird for us not to mention” the film.

“Obviously, we’re all excited about it, just as human beings — and the characters are as well,” notes the EP, adding, “I don”t know exactly how it’s going to play in, but it won’t be ignored.”
