When Fox’s Prison Break revival (somehow) resurrects Michael Scofield, will his bride be waiting for him?
Thus far, the only cast announced for the 10-episode event series are Wentworth Miller and his TV bro Dominic Purcell. And while faithful fans presume that Michael’s wife Sara simply must be a part of the reunion, nothing is certain. Yet.
“No one’s asked me yet, so I don’t know,” Prison Break original cast member Sarah Wayne Callies told TVLine Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, where she was promoting USA Network’s Colony. “If we can find a way to honor [Sara and Michael] by telling a beautiful continuing story — and my bosses [on Colony] let me do another show — I would love to. There is such a long list of things that are out of my hands, but my heart is very, very excited about it.”
(As Callies previously noted for us at Comic-Con, Universal Cable Productions’ Dawn Parouse Olmstead is her current boss and was an EP on Prison Break, so: “If there’s anybody who has incentive to let me sneak off of set for a little bit and cross over to another lot, it would be Dawn.”)
When last we visited the Prison Break world, Michael and Sara had wed at a seaside ceremony, only to see the bride hauled away by cops and hurried into the hoosegow. The Final Break straight-to-DVD finale followed the efforts of Michael, Lincoln et al to spring Sara from her unjust incarceration — though it would require Michael ultimately sacrificing his life to do so.
As previously announced (but not reiterated enough), that significant matter of Michael’s death will be addressed/worked around in reviving the drama.
“Prison Break was extraordinary,” Callies shared at TCA. “The single most amazing thing that has probably ever happened to me, or ever will, in my career, is the fans kicking up such a fuss during Season 3 [that] they had to bring me back in Season 4. That’s unprecedented.”
