James Lafferty, you’re a long way from Tree Hill, N.C.
Premiering in 2016, the series follows a group of slaves who plan their 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation, helped along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad. Lafferty will play Kyle Risdin, a U.S. marshal who is intent on enforcing the Fugitive Slave Act.
Lafferty joins a cast that includes Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: SVU), Adina Porter (The 100), Reed Diamond (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Jussie Smollett (Empire) and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Parenthood).
Since ending his nine-season run on One Tree Hill, Lafferty has appeared on NBC’s short-lived drama Crisis.
