TVLine Items: Bruce Jenner First Look, ABC Family's Moron-ic Pilot and More

Bruce Jenner Interview

As Bruce Jenner‘s two-hour conversation with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer nears, the network has released a short promo teasing the buzzy interview.

Bruce Jenner: The Interview — in which the reality TV patriarch will discuss his alleged transition from male to female — will air Friday, April 24 at 9/8c as a special edition of 20/20.

The teaser below offers a few fleeting glimpses of Jenner, while hinting at some of the Q&A’s hot topics.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* ABC Family has greenlit two pilots: Gorgeous Morons, a half-hour comedy about two stunningly handsome (but ridiculously simple) brothers whose lives are rocked by their new roommate, a brainy-but-unattractive female; and Beyond, a drama about a young man who wakes from a 12-year-long coma and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into a dangerous conspiracy.

* Two-time Emmy nominee Jacqueline MacInnes Wood will return to The Bold and the Beautiful on May 26, now on contract as Steffy Forrester, TVInsider reports.

* Will Forte, who has lent his voice to Disney XD’s Lab Rats since the series began, will make his first in-person appearance on the show later this year.

* True Blood alumna Lucy Griffiths has joined the cast of Preacher, AMC’s drama pilot based on the 1990s comic from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, our sister site Deadline reports. In the potential series — which follows conflicted Texas preacher Jesse Custer on his journey to find God — Griffiths will play Emily, a tough waitress and single mother who is also Jesse’s right-hand woman.

* HBO has released the first teaser for its upcoming dark comedy The Brink, bowing Sunday, June 21. Starring Jack Black, Tim Robbins and Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is the New Black), the series focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate, desperate men. 1. “True Blood alumna Lucy Griffiths has joined the cast of Preacher” and maybe this time she’ll stick around beyond the first episode, heh.

    • Katie_Mead says:

Och, well, as long as they don’t go casting her as a completely new, especially-created-for-US-TV character that has nothing to do with the comics series, then all should be okay.
      Oh! Wait …

  2. Steven says:

So Gorgeous Morons is basically a reverse Big Bang Theory and Beyond is The Dead Zone?

  3. Duke says:

The Bruce Jenner thing really ticks me off. Any and all ‘brave journey’ crap should have gone out the window when his reckless driving killed someone.

You want a do a story about transgender transformation, you can find a better spokesperson than a vehicular manslaughterer.

    • Drew says:

It is amazing how quickly that was brushed under the carpet. People care more about what he does with his man bits than the person he killed.

  4. Bob Backus says:

Gorgeous Morons- unattractive female- that because of it being US television will somehow transform into a hot chick.

  5. evababy says:

“brainy-but-unattractive female” – Hmmm. Will be very curious to see how ABC interprets what constitutes ‘unattractive.’ Probably they’ll just put some oversized glasses and poorly fitted clothing on an otherwise very attractive actress and voila!

    • Stacy says:

My suspicions as well. And they’ll either make her just pretty enough, or do a makeover before she hooks up with one of the brothers.

    • S McMary says:

Don’t forget no makeup and an unkempt/unflattering hairstyle LOL. Seriously, Hollywood’s interpretation of “unattractiveness” and the real world version are complete polar opposites. I like to think this time would be different but so far, history (at least the entertainment version) have proven me and everyone else wrong.

  6. Mr. Tran K says:

Don’t know how B&B fans are going to react about Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s return to the show. It has been a while since we haven’t seen much of Steffy Forrester.
